Win everyAir desktop app for the iPad

Nov 27th 2010 2:22PM (WoW)
I'd probably use this, as long as I could do the following:

Have the system capture only one monitor; set a virtual monitor on my system, place WoW on it and have the application output only the display for the virtual monitor. Then have the computer set to accept multiple mouse and keyboard inputs, so that the system could be used for other things without interfering with the WoW time. While thats a bit of a stretch, it could probably work

Alternatively, the one easier method is to get a slightly dated desktop or build a low power "headless" desktop with a decent graphics card and just remote into it for gaming. The advantage of the first option of course being I don't have to use another computer for it.

Either way this application looks pretty cool. Shame I didn't pop by in time to comment and enter the contest. Either way, I might buy it if I ever get an iPad.

Dexpot is an awesome virtual desktop app - now with Windows 7 superbar integration!

Not once did I claim that the Windows Powertoy version was better. All I claimed was that you didn't seem to look into any programs for windows that did this before Dexpot, and made it seem like Dexpot was the only chance Windows had to catch up with Linux OS's in the virtual desktop field.

Look I'm not trying to bash the article itself; for what its worth it is well written and informative on the benefits of Dexpot. Just little things like that irk me, blame it on the morning grumpies if you will but oh well.

Find it cute that I can't respond to your responses Sebastian. Not trying to rain on your parade, but all I'm suggesting is that before you make a claim like that maybe you should find out what alternatives have been there for years. Also keep in mind that said powertoy came out years before Dexpot, and was made for an OS from 2001, so yeah it might not be as up to date.

Been a Powertoy that gave virtual desktops for XP since around the time XP came out. So your article is a bit inaccurate when you make the "Virtual desktops have long been one of those things that Linux has held over Windows (and Mac too, until recently)".. at the start of the article.

Will iPhone OS 4.0 include direct printing from iPhones and iPads?

Apr 8th 2010 8:56AM (Download Squad)
I see there being a potential for it working only on Wi-Fi networks, printing by connecting to an iTunes supporting computer or computer with Bonjour installed then printing from there. Of course something like that is pretty hackjob yet I find it hard to believe they would write all the drivers for it either. I guess we will see today.
