I watched it in the theater when it came out. I think what most people here are forgetting that practically everything we know about Mario's universe now wasn't so "Matter of fact" back then. Video game to movie adaptation was still somewhat new, let alone somewhat of a cartoony style game to real life movie. Computer graphics weren't all that nice, so anything with puppets was still awesome because of all the work involved in making it all come together.

So, basically they had this to work with in terms of story:

Mario and Luigi are main characters
There's a princess of sorts
Koopa/Bowser is a lizard thing and is evil
Various other characters with little to no background.

Starting to get the picture? Basically they had to fill in the space. I enjoyed the film as Mario trivia didn't exactly exist, so creativity was appreciated to fill in the gaps :D

Plus Bob Hoskins made a really good Mario, I'm sorry that he regrets it so much.

I tried this on PC during that free day a while back, was disappointed in the quirky (at least for me) controller support (it lets you use a controller, but all button prompts are for mouse/joystick). Then it crashed a couple of times (once just because of alt-tab, can't remember the other time). Tried it on the 360 via demo, worked perfect, had fun for a little bit.

Wish 360 version would go on sale again! And be updated (last I knew pc version gets more updates/features)!

Maybe Microsoft was just sitting, holding their finger hovering over the execute button for Hulu...waiting for a good reason to make it live (no pun intended).

PSN's down, so now would be a good time for this. Either way this will definitely be a game changer for both all parties involved (even cable providers).

Remember when Gamestop used to sell nearly every single game system, even old ones? Pepperidge Farm does.

Oh and don't let whoever did the first one's advertising do it...in fact don't let whoever has been doing your advertising for any of your games do it. I still remember the old psychonauts ads and wondering "What the heck was that?" and Brutal Legend was very misleading. I wanted to bash everyone with that axe, not lead other people to do it for me :-p

I think it would be quite the "HAHA!" (in Nelson voice from The Simpsons) for them to change the references in the game, create an original, and end up being a better game than whatever Activision is planning on doing with the IP.

Do I smell another reboot? I bet I do. Because this IP is getting to be old enough to where kids of today aren't going to know what King's Quest is. And that's where the bucks are.

Wow....being a long time C&C fan thanks for an honest review. I was disappointed I didn't have enough money to pre-order/buy this one. Now...not so much :-(
