After seeing all the options Rock Band 3 gives the user, I can unequivocally say:

Activision, you're doing it wrong.

WSJ: GameCrazy officially shuttered in US alongside Hollywood Video

If I still worked there, I would get you the documentation. But I can say that Hollywood Video and Game Crazy are indeed closing. My former coworkers are very bummed about the situation, although the writing has been on the wall for months.

The sad thing is that most of the Game Crazy stores make money, but because they're connected to the failing rental service, Hollywood Video, they have to close too.

Sucks.

Game Crazy parent files for bankruptcy, 250 stores to remain

Feb 3rd 2010 8:18PM (Joystiq)
I worked for Game Crazy for two in a half years during college. During my time there, the Game Crazy side of the Movie Gallery equation actually made money. However, due to the poor status of brick and mortar rental stores, most Game Crazy locations must close along with their shit-rental counterparts.

After graduation, it took a full year for me to find a full-time career. I feel very sorry for some of my friends who are still with the company. The store I was located at made it through the first wave of closures, and I hope they make it though this one. No one should ever have to be out of a job with the circumstances are out of their hands.

I live in Vancouver, WA. Vancouver is the home town of Game Crazy before they were bought by Hollywood Video (who were then bought by Movie Gallery). I worked at the original GC store in the Vancouver Mall during High School and it was sad to see that store close a few years ago.

No matter how much of a proponent I am of digital distribution, Game Crazy was always the gaming store for me that felt more like a comic shop than a "big-business" retail chain. It's going to be sad to see them go.
