Nintendo launches new web game, suggests you play on Wii browser

Amazing. Nintendo endorses a game with which their own software isn't even compatible...
Too bad, the game itself was pretty decent.

PAL Red Steel progressive scan mandatory?

Well, considering HDTV is neither 50 nor 60 Hz - which the box clearly states - and the minor detail of the Wii not being able to send an HDTV signal, I'd say you're right. This has to be a printing error.

Or is it...

Zelda retrospective: The end, my only friend, the end ...

Seriously, this has to stop. There are currently 13 Zelda titles (16 if you count the CD-i games. Which you don't.), and a 14th on the way, released during a period of over 20 years. There is no way Nintendo has been able too keep a continuing timeline that corresponds with all the games. It's like saying there's a plotline connection between all the Final Fantasy games.
The Zelda series is simply a series of games that share a number of elements, including bits and pieces of the plot. Personally, I think that's even cooler than one big continuing story.

Contra spearheads Konami DS WiFi compilation

Sounds great. Honestly, I can't understand why nobody's made a classic top-down space shooter with co-op for the DS. The format is just so perfect.

Wii to support single friend code per system?

"...when the Wii is online, it transforms itself into a globally active bond between yourself and your friends. For example, if you were to purchase a new game, you'd have the option of notifying your friends, via their individual Wii Message Boards, that you now own this game, by a simple "Yes/No" option that will pop up."

This of course applies to the Wii Message Board, not specific games, but for such a system to work, it would seem that it would be easiest to have one identification code for each console. Seeing as we know this already (it's the same for the DS, except you don't use it - you only use the Friend Code which is generated from the DS ID and the specific game cartridge ID), it seems pretty stupid by Nintendo if they go along with the same Friend Code system they used for the DS (considering everybody hates it). But, you know, Ninty have done some pretty stupid things in the past.

I don't see why they couldn't use some kind of search function. Say, if the system lets you specify certain attributes (name, country/city, games owned etc.), you could be allowed to search for these attributes. If you don't want to fill in the fields, fine, but don't count on being found. This would pretty much be the makings of an online community, but based on what we've seen, isn't that what they're trying to accomplish anyway?

Jack Thompson becomes boring

I'm surprised no one has stopped to think that might be something wrong with the judicial system as a whole. In a system in which attorneys are paid in a percentage of the total settlement, there are bound to be a certain amout of people with a lot more interest in the amount of the settlement, than the case itself.

I mean; you have a situation where people have been put through a great deal of suffering and emotional trauma. They need to be felt sorry for. But how have they earned $600 million dollars? Sure, cut 'em som slack, but $600 million?

Now, what do you think Jacko is in it for? The rightful claims of the families of these victims, or a nice, big, fat 10% of those $600 million?

Nice system you guys got there...
