Mass Effect 3 'From Ashes' DLC also sold separately from Collector's Edition

Feb 23rd 2012 8:58AM (Joystiq)
I'm so fed up with the whole DLC culture that I may just go out and torrent this game, even though I'm not actually that interested in playing it.
Sounds like a douchy thing to say, I know, but unless anyone has a better idea for a protest I could make, it's all I can think of right now. Merely not buying the game doesn't register my anger with the industry, so it's time to take some sort of action that I know for a fact the publishers hate.

Witcher franchise sold 1.5 million copies in 2011

Awesome game. Along with Skyrim, my favourite game of 2011. To anyone who hasn't played it - if you've got a powerful enough PC and you like RPGs just get it.

Sit down, relax and release some Rage tonight for $15 on Steam

On the one hand $15 for any AAA game is a great deal. On the other, it's really only worth about $5.

The Daily Grind: Are you currently on hiatus from MMOs?

Feb 3rd 2012 10:58AM (Massively)
I am on a hiatus, but not from choice. Having finally gotten fed up with WoW about this time last year, I managed to quit for good. Since then I have tried a number of MMOs, including Rift and SWTOR. I enjoyed Rift for 3 or 4 months but found it lacked a certain spark. I was deeply unimpressed by SWTOR, for me it was extremely dull, looked awful, and brought nothing new to the table.
Consequently I'm on the lookout for a new MMO, as I absolutely love the category, but the current crop is a bit thin. Here's hoping GW2 is a cracker!

The Daily Grind: Do you skip dialogue?

Jan 30th 2012 9:14AM (Massively)
@xenothaulus That's exactly the thing. From the age of 3 or 4 as human beings we are taught how to read. Consequently when we hit a decent age we can read and fully absorb text incredibly fast. Being made to sit through hours of dialogue goes against this and quickly becomes tiring.
I have nothing whatsoever against Bioware spending X million dollars to record X million lines of dialogue, but I wish they had included a traditional text-only quest option.

The Daily Grind: Do you skip dialogue?

I did to begin with, but got bored very fast, and my space bar suffered heavy abuse as a result.

The Daily Grind: What's your most embarrassing mistell?

Jan 6th 2012 1:09PM (Massively)
During a raid I was leading, a friend of mine remarked how ugly the Grand Black War Mammoth was (that I had just won). I agreed with him, remarking that it looked like the guildmaster's girlfriend's butt. Unfortunately instead of doing it in /r I typed /rw aka a Raid Warning that flashes up as an alert on everyone's screen, including the GM, who was in the raid.

Fortunately I had the composure to screenshot it, makes me laugh every time I have a look.

The Daily Grind: Want to make an inaccurate prediction?

Jan 1st 2012 9:08AM (Massively)
Some great comments so far. I can't really think of any quite as funny, so I'm going to try for the boring-yet-may-come-true predictions:

WoW will continue to lose subscribers whilst simultaneously introducing more and more paid-for junk. I'm guessing subs will be about 7.5m by the end of the year.

Rift will go F2P

Tera will be a slight disappointment both on numbers of subs and quality of game (would love to be wrong about this)

SWTOR will be a big success as far as subs go (yeah ok, that's not exactly a brave prediction)

GW2 will be awesome! (I hope)

...and finally Hello Kitty Online will hit the ONE HUNDRED MILLION subs mark, attracting top raiding guilds such as Paragon, Method etc over to try to conquer it's high-end raids. (Siamese Core, Catwing Lair, Sunwell Cateau etc)

4.5 million pirated copies of Witcher 2 out there, according to CD Projekt

Awesome game, I'm happy to have paid for it, and I'll likely buy whatever game they bring out next. Not many games companies I can say that about
