@drunkingamebar

And that is why I always say that if you think you need to implement a PSN pass, do it tying the console to it, not an user, you download you PSN pass verification file, that is added to the console, and then the entire family could play online with their own PSN users. Sony must stop advertising the PS3 as a family oriented console if they are tying those PSN passes to the each user

@Undulation

Same here, anyone that have played a Bethesda game must know that already, I probably wait for the low prices of the standard edition when the GOTY is released

Editorial: The broken, sputtering launch of Battlefield 3 online multiplayer

This will always happens with the current way of installing servers. No one will pay for a thousand servers to be allocated for the first few weeks of peak simultaneous connections, and then when those weeks ends, they need, lets say, half those servers for the entire life of the game. The only way this could be fixed is that game developer embrace the cloud (God I hate that term) and rent space from people like Amazon or other Pass provider or start building private clouds, then rent a lot of servers for the first weeks, the reduce the amount of VMs you use when possible.

That is what must be done with the money people pays Microsoft to play online, MS should provide the cloud for those game servers, that way a game online features will only die when the platform dies, not when the developer wants (specially EA that loves to kill game server very fast), but that will never happen, developers what that direct control

What you say is true, with only one false assumption, Steam is not an exclusive gateway to PC gaming, you still can install games not distributed by Valve service, see Origin. EA still can sell to PC owners no matter what policies Valve have (not saying Valve has bad or good ones)

@This Little Man Says His Name Is

Read again "Publishers are getting the living crap kicked out of them by Microsoft," so they were talking about other publishers not MS being a publisher

Yea, Indie and Arcade games, and the policy says "ON DISK", do not call me fanboy when you have reading comprehension problems. People do not understand that console manufacturers are the gateway. EA is more under pressure to not loose sales on the XBox than MS for loosing a game

@eat it

It is a downloadable game, but it was published to come on disk, like the Medal Of Honor and Dead Space Extraction promotions

@Copybass Ah jeez zombies

Those are exclusive DLC, not something on disk. The MS policy does not says that they will not approve, it says that they could decide to do it, so it is their decission

@baby sea tuna

new Microsoft policies about approval of content for the XBox, see http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/03/sony-publishers-are-getting-the-living-crap-kicked-out-of-them/ If the game has not the same content and features than other platforms, Microsoft could decide not approve it
