The last Spider-Man game I played through was the Spider-Man 2 movie game and that was not too long after the game came out, so I don't know how Spider-Man 3 holds up.
Wasn't that game just more of the same? From some of the gameplay footage I saw, it looks like the free roaming aspect is still there. What makes it not as popular as Spider-Man 2? Am I wrong about the free roaming?
I was waiting for a sale. I'm really low on cash right now, but this is as cheap as the game may get for a long time, so I might as well take advantage of it. This may not be the wisest decision I'll be making, but, dammit, I wanna finally play Portal 2!
My first time playing through the first Portal was when it was made free again just a bit ago, so I'm hyped, especially after playing some of the user made maps, most notably the newest version of Hetzchase Nailway.
Since this is the post almost everyone is responding to, I'm just gonna respond to this as I address everyone:
If I'm understanding everything correctly (and please correct me if I'm wrong), Square Enix included a free pass to a service that GameStop would soon be competing with.
I do not agree with what GS did at all, but I can understand why they wouldn't want a game they're selling to encourage people to seek out their competitors. GS's problem isn't that SE is getting involved with it's competitors, but how; In this case, GS is essentially advertising their opponent's services. With any type of product, you may see said product being sold at various places, but, unless the owners of a vendor are unaware, you'll almost never any product advertising a competitor.
GameStop was going to lose no matter what they did. They just took the worst possible routes. If they didn't tamper with the game, they'd lose potential customers of their own service to that service. If Square Enix agreed not to include the token for GameStop only, customers would've been inclined to get the game elsewhere since every place but GameStop would've included the game with the token. By tampering with the game, by opening it and removing a feature meant for new buyers, and selling it as new, they not only managed to unintentionally piss off their customers and work toward losing their trust, but also gave them even more of a reason to consider alternatives. Removing the game from the store entirely is just rubbing salt in the wound.
The only way they wouldn't've been screwed is if SE made the deal with them instead of the people behind OnLive. The biggest problem with that is that GS's service isn't even up yet. As for just advertising both of'em wouldn't work, even if they decided to only advertise GS's service at its own stores (both of them being on the box would be silly and if GS's was only at its own stores, OnLive would get a lot more coverage).
Somebody at Sega should seriously implement an input playback system that can verify scores on its own based on whether or not it's physically possible to achieve scores and times with the given movements and allow players to view the videos themselves. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that shouldn't be too hard to create and add to the game, right?
Mega Man 9 and 10 have input playbacks... I dunno if the games have a verification method aside from just allowing people to watch the playbacks, but I haven't heard any complaints about cheating in those games.
You know what would make this really awesome? Including all of those neat features and stages added to Super Mario Advance 4 when the e-Reader was used. Most of those cards never made it outside of Japan and I bet there were even many people in Japan who missed out on that content.
After having played through every e-Reader level, I feel that Nintendo owes its Mario fans that much.
On a different note, I find it a bit weird that the US version of SMB2 was referred to as SMB USA rather than SMB2 USA.
I agree with everyone saying that the 2D and 3D games need to be separated.
As for what my favorite 2D platformer Mario game is, here's a rundown of how I rank the Mario games I've played so far:
Super Mario Bros 3 > New Super Mario Bros > SMW2: Yoshi's Island (Can this even be counted as anymore of a "Mario" game than the Donkey Kong Country games even though Mario is in it?) > Super Mario World > Super Mario Bros=JP Super Mario Bros 2/Lost Levels>US Super Mario Bros 2/Doki Doki Panic
Haven't played New Super Mario Bros. Wii yet, although I feel as if it'll take the DS game's spot. Would've included Mario VS Donkey Kong, but I count that as a puzzle platformer, unlike the other games.
As for the 3D games: Super Mario Galaxy > Super Mario 64 > Super Mario Sunshine
I don't consider any of these games bad and many of these are just barely better than the others in my eyes, except for Super Mario World; As in, I think Super Mario World is a much better game than Super Mario Bros.
Yeah, I like the fact that we're gonna be learning more about Samus, but I really hope they screw it all up by turning my favorite video game character into an unlikable person. The game having more story already kinda scares me.
