Here's an early look at StarCraft II's battle report 3

Jun 19th 2009 2:43PM (Joystiq)
You all do realize that there will not be 3 separate games, right?

The initial release will include full functionality for all three civs, multiplayer, map editor, all that jazz, as well as the 30-scenerio long terran campaign. Then, Blizzard will release 2 subsequent x-packs/add-ons (just like basically any other PC strategy game) that will contain the Zerg and Protoss campaigns, respectively, along with new units/features/maps, in all likelihood at the $30 (US) price point. So no, the game is not split up and no you will not have to pay for three separate games.

And goldeneyesoldier, you will almost certainly see a gold edition for Starcraft II, but, like all things like this (including Orange Box), it will come out a while after the original has launched.

Joystiq Review: Excitebots: Trick Racing

Apr 27th 2009 12:35AM (Joystiq)
It seems to me that the reviewer missed the point of this game (and its predecessor). These games are not racing games per se. You fly past the other racers (at least in the opening levels, Super Excite makes the 50 point boost from 1st place less than a given) because they are not the opponent, the stage is. You "win" by getting a certain number of points per race, which you have to squeeze from each level doing jumps and tree runs and what not. The same applies for the pretty seamless online which it appears the reviewer missed.

One would think that lines like "it is a straight line from the fall of the Bastille to the rise of denim" would make the tongue-in-cheek nature of the article obvious...
