Ultima: Most. Important. Game Series. Ever.

Jan 27th 2012 10:59AM (Joystiq)
Thanks for this article. I can't believe that I have forgotten all about the Ultima series, even though my friends played Ultima 6 and those spin-offs to death. I never had a computer that I could play games on until much later, which is when I started playing Ultima 7 to death. I loved being able to churn butter and bake bread! Yeah there wasn't much point to it but being able to get water from a well and then use the water on flour to make dough and then to put it in an oven and wait for it to turn into dough? No other game allowed me to do such mundane things before! :D

It was nice little touches like that that made the game much more immersive.

Written in the S.T.A.R.S.: Capcom dreams of CoD fans playing Resident Evil

Jan 21st 2012 10:35AM (Joystiq)
I think people are too hung up on the CoD reference. I enjoyed playing RE5 co-op with a friend but I *hated* the dated controls. Yes, it's always been like that since RE1 but crappy controls does not make the game. Not being able to move while you have your gun up is just stupid. If making it more like CoD means being able to run and gun, then yes by all means do it.

Again, just because they change the way the controls work, doesn't mean they are abandoning everything that is Resident Evil. If they can keep the same atmosphere it will work.

I loved RE2 and I think that was the best of the Resident Evil series. If they could make an updated version of that but with much more fluid controls, that would be the ultimate Resident Evil game, in my opinion. And looking at the trailer, it looks like it's heading that way.

Paradox announces 'A Game of Dwarves,' coming this year

@Colin
Pretty much what Courtney said. I like playing as Dwarves in fantasy games. The fact that Dwarves aren't in the game, make it a little less appealing. Not that I'm saying that is the sole reason why I wouldn't play the game. The main thing really is that I already have enough games that I sink all of my time to.

@Courtney

Same here! I like the idea of angry Dwarves swinging axes and hammers all over the place.

The lack of Dwarves is one of the reasons why I'm not all that interested in the Morrowind series. That and I wouldn't get anything done if I spent all my time playing those games.

Try reading it again but carefully this time. I think you misunderstood how this works, bud.

Aliens: Colonial Marines special edition spotted

@Boiglenoight Darkstar
Problem is that if you start adding in new things that haven't been featured in the Aliens movie, do you start to lose the whole Aliens vibe to it then? You could add in powered armour suits but then it starts to become more WH40K than Aliens.
