Win a super rare signed 300-Edition Xbox 360 Elite and 300 HD DVD!

Aug 2nd 2007 4:50PM (Engadget)
There are a lot of great scenes in the movie to chose from, but my favorite scene is near the end of the film. When Leonidas bows before Xerxes with his spartans in a defensive half-sphere behind him, only to rise again defiantly and hurl his spear at the God-King himself.

Cool, count me in for a chance to win.

Microsoft defends Pac-Man CE pricing

Jun 12th 2007 5:41PM (Joystiq Xbox)
What is more telling about Microsoft's pricing on the Marketplace and Xbox Live Arcade is the frequency with which they most "defend" their pricing scheme. If they were pricing their content appropriately they should not have to ever defend the purchase, it should be apparent to gamers that they are getting good value.

Personally I think the Pac-Man CE is great, but 800 MSP is pushing it. That happens far too much. A lot of the pricing on Marketplace is pushing it. It's not ridiculously high, but high enough that it creates hesitation about the purchase. At 400 MSP I would have bought Pac-Man CE within 5 minutes of playing the trial, at 800 MSP I passed. I am sure I am not the only one who feels this way.

More Achievement amendments from Microsoft

I believe that what was said was that downloadable content that gives a player a competitive advantage must be free OR unlockable within the game itself.

360 vs PS3, the race to a 65nm processor

Feb 6th 2007 3:09PM (Joystiq Xbox)
If they make a significant update to the 360 by adding a smaller processor, new larger hard-drive, and HDMI I certainly will shell out the cash to buy one and place my launch console on eBay for sale.

Games on more than one disc: do you care?

Nov 24th 2006 1:30PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I would rather have a cheaper console, with faster load times and a proven optical drive with the trade-off of a minority of games being on multiple discs than deal with the alternative. Besides I am switching discs all the time anyhow.

Call of Duty 3 is cheaper on Eastern front

Nov 8th 2006 10:33AM (Joystiq Xbox)
If I knew for sure that these games were the same as the ones I can get here in North America I would totally do this. Xbox Live compatibility is a huge deal for me though and if there is any chance that these might not work online I would rather pay full price.

HD Movies on Marketplace? It could happen

Nov 3rd 2006 7:44PM (Joystiq Xbox)
It would be an excellent move by Microsoft to start offering downloadable movies through Xbox Live. iTunes is already doing this, so there is demand, and Apple is going to be releasing their iTV to connect to a TV. For 360 owners renting movies through Xbox Live would make more sense, since no extra hardware would be required.

Regardless of SD or HD quality movies the 20 GB hard-drive is just not going to be sufficient. A lot of people have focused on Microsoft offering a larger drive to replace the existing 360 drive. If Microsoft is serious about online digital video distribution then it makes more sense for them to offer an external hard-drive. That way they could use 3.5" drives, which are cheaper and offer much more capacity than the 2.5" drive the 360 currently uses. 250, 500, 750 GB external drives would be possible, and would provide more than sufficient room for movie rentals, even at HD quality.

Offering an external drive connected via USB would also allow users to connect the drive to a PC. Users could then backup downloaded movies onto a PC.

Gears of War's ranked matches smell rank

Oct 7th 2006 4:11PM (Joystiq)
It seems like instead of innovating and developing a working solution to online cheating MS is coping out and simply removing a feature. To me playing team-based ranked matches online with friends is the most important online feature. If Sony finds a way to make team-based ranked play possible, while policing cheaters, that will be a heavy incentive for me to switch platforms.
