So basically this kid who wrote in could have answered his own question by opening the disc he'd already bought and reading a single paragraph? That's lazy.
I'm guessing the dog tags are simply for differentiating your controller from someone else's. Since you can save personal information to your controller there will probably be a lot more people bringing their controllers over to a friend's house to play. Since there aren't a lot of different colored controllers to choose from something like these dog tags would be pretty convenient. Not necessary, but a nice option for people who like to modify their gaming gear.
As for the controller skins packaged in threes, I think this is another solution to the same problem. The skins are most likely just to tell the controllers apart. Therefore you only need three.
Of course Nintendo is trying to make money. It's not greed, it's good business. Businesses make money. That's what they do. Why do all these people complaining about the cost of the Wii (factoring in the extra costs of controllers and games, etc.), always compare that price to the base price of the 360 or PS3? You completely ignore the blatantly obvious fact that you will also have to buy extra controllers and games for those systems as well, pushing their prices even higher than they already are. So the complaint seems to be that even though the Wii is clearly the cheaper system, it isn't cheaper enough? WTF?
