May 15th 2006 5:09PM (Engadget)One thing I am still disappointed by is her response to why it was named Wii. For instance, this quote coming from a marketing guru: "In the end, it's not necessarily what something's named, it's what it does." Of course it matters what it's named!
Overall, very little information, mostly her agreeing that there are still a lot of unanswered questions that were promised to be revealed this past week.

The Engadget & Joystiq Interview: Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto (again!)
May 12th 2006 7:57PM (Engadget)I was talking with my wife the other day about the consoles out there. Now, she is an NES and SNES goddess, but stopped there. When I told her about the new Wii controller, she was hooked. When it comes out, we will be buying a Wii.
Second, I was thinking about the games coming out recently. Many of the games that come out for PS3/X360 are not games that I personally think 12 year olds should be playing. I know, I'm getting old and getting worried, but I know that there are times I'm on the second story, look out a window, and realize what a great sniping position it would make. These games seem to not only be fun and engaging, but perfect games for the younger generation as well as older folks.
That's kind of how I'm feeling about it all. I really believe I'll be getting a Wii. Here's the kicker: And a PS3. I'm a grown man with disposable income, and I want a machine that will push the edges of my HDTV. I don't think it's about choice anymore, the Wii has a focus towards another market and that means a Wii and PS3 are compatible in the living room. And _that_ is what I've been missing.
