Rescue Me: Seven
Aug 2nd 2007 11:39AM (AOL TV)Tommy's own dead brother (who is the father of the baby) is begging Tommy to throw the baby in. I don't know how I'd react if I knew I'd inevitably see a dead family member every other day, let alone the fact that he's going to demand I do something reprehensible.
But he didn't kill the baby. Tommy, for all intents and purposes, has a huge heart. It's that struggle that he has, dealing with all of these issues (His struggling wife, crazy daughters, kid with no name that isn't even his, etc.), but he always seems to come out of it with a cooler head than the others involved. He's their rock but he's starting to crack. This was the beginning of the downward spiral that Tommy will inevitably fall into.
The thing about this season is, unlike the 2nd or 3rd season every single episode has been better than the last. So while it does seem like they're in a slump (I still think the show is great) they've been building up this season more and more instead of just throwing everything out there like they did in Season 2, making you crave for that one moment that this show is known for... The mouth agape "are you f***ing serious?!" moment...
Ray Stevenson is the New Punisher, Source Says
Jul 23rd 2007 12:33PM (Cinematical)That all being said, I was really disappointed to hear that Jane wouldn't be back, and then hearing that the script was subpar. I'd probably still see it, but it's got a lot to live up to.
And Travolta's character was as out there and ridiculous, but I enjoy the ridiculous Travolta (Like the one in Swordfish)...
Rescue Me: Black
Jul 19th 2007 6:09PM (AOL TV)Chief's Ashes
The episode after he killed himself, Tommy mentioned that his son asked that the guys take care of Chief's body (I assume it was because he was on a honeymoon)
Probie's House
Probie has been shown to be a bit of a momma's boy, so I can only assume it is a part of his upbringing with his mother where maybe people couldn't be at his house. Probie has always shown himself to be a little weird emotionally.
This episode was a good one, and I'm happy to be getting a bit of the old Tommy back. After all the trials and tribulations, and the fact that his character centered around his ability to drink and have sex made him almost emasculated without the alcohol or sex (up until Nona), it was nice to see Tommy get some fire back.
Rescue Me: Pussified
Jul 13th 2007 11:58AM (AOL TV)Being an fan of anything while on the internet makes you way more ignorant than you really are, myself included.
People's opinions seem to come out in this steady crazy stream that just doesn't make sense sometimes.
I trust Leary, as he's never disappointed me yet, from his comedy specials to even his movies (well, at least Suicide Kings was good)...
Rescue Me: Pussified
Jul 12th 2007 2:42PM (AOL TV)The ending, the cuts to commercials, everything just stopped quickly.
It seems like every character this whole season is stuck in some sort of rut that they can't find their way out of. Each one is trying to better themselves, but are having a hard time coming to terms with what they may be giving up in the process.
Let me just say that this is the first drama I've ever followed this religiously. While these first 4 episodes have scared me from a fan's sense, I have faith that the writers know what they're doing and where they're going with everyone.
The last two episodes have been a little more than depressing, what with Mike's Mom and the Chief meeting their demise, but just as Lou mentioned with "We attack at dawn!" these guys need a day or two to get back to their old selves.
Predictions, based on character:
Tommy - He's definitely going to have a major breakdown this season. I do see Janet's character doing something with the baby that would influence this. Expect him to go on a full-blown bender.
Janet - Still dealing with the screwed up life she has, the baby is going to be here breaking point. Be it shaking the baby or even secretly unloading the baby on Sheila (From the previews for next week, Sheila is still obviously off her rocker). Janet will undergo a pretty huge change this season.
Franco - I expect him to get engaged, but I don't think the relationship will last through the rest of the season. He's already left himself an opening for failure, and I'm pretty damned sure that he will take it.
Lou - He's been the most bewildering character this season. Apart from his sex-crazed girlfriend, he hasn't really had much to do. I think he's going to have a pretty straight path this season, obviously breaking up with the ex-Nun, and maybe settling down with an older woman.
Garrity - Sean's going to get some much needed depth this season. While he is one of my favorite characters on the show, his break-up with Tommy's sister isn't going to be easy, and will bring out the more passionate side of Sean.
Probie - This is the one huge question mark I got. Since Season 1, he's been relegated as a background character, even during the "Is he gay?" part of Season 3. I hope he loses the "gay" edge and starts to stand up for himself once the new Probie arrives.
Sheila - Holy crap in a handbasket, this woman will/can do almost anything this season. The truth about what she did to Tommy will come out this season, and it will advance Tommy's fall off the edge (the one he's been balancing on so far this season).
But yeah, that's my take.
Starbucks baristas are not your friends
Mar 30th 2007 5:07PM (Slashfood)She said she tried ordering a Tea Misto with no water and they gave her a "WTF?!" look and just gave her yet another name for her drink, read a little closer.
Personally, I've never really had an issue with my drink orders there (Quad Venti Mocha), but I did have one with a new girl once.
I was at a Meijer (local Supersized chain) that had a Starbucks in it. Well, the girl at the counter was new, and nobody seemed to be around to help her out at all, but she wasn't busy. I asked for the Quad Venti Mocha and she stared at me like I spoke French. I repeated the order again. She goes "Quad Venti Mocha? Do we make that?" I then explained to her what the drink was, and she goes "Ooohh... Are you sure you want that? That's a lot of espresso, the drink is gonna taste yucky."
I just stared at her for a second before finally somebody comes out of the back and asks what I want. Again, I repeat the order, and he knew exactly what I wanted and got to work on it. I just still couldn't believe that she questioned my choice.

I mean yes, it's one long fart joke and crotch shot, but the chemistry between these guys is truly great... I just wish people would stop thinking for a second and watch a funny funny movie...
