Scope out MechWarrior Online's high-octane action

Mar 13th 2012 4:25PM (Massively)
@Maximum Proxy Two different types of games. Mechwarrior typically plays more like a TF2 then a COD, there's more to playing then simply aim at their head and shoot before they do (ala Cod or Hawken), since people take more then one bullet, it takes a lot more technical skill and strategy to be good, like Team Fortress 2 . Hawken looks like a better shooter, but I'm not sure I'm going to like run and gun gameplay to represent mech's, especially when Hawken seems so slow and awkward compared to games like AC that have already done fast mobile mechs. Comments like this make me hope that Hawken releases the same time as Mechwarrior, so that everybody wanting "call of duty with mechs" will leave themselves and their opinion out of Mechwarrior.

Clone Wars Adventures hits 10 million player milestone

Mar 12th 2012 5:05PM (Massively)
@Beau Hindman Not sure whats "LOL" worthy about his statement. http://mmodata.blogspot.com/ has wow's high point listed at 12 mil, and Blizzard has stated that it does not distinguish between unique users living in the same house vs people with multiple accounts, and thus they count 12 mill unique IP's connecting to the game. Given the number of roommates and people with multiple accounts, I think at least 12.5 is probable, and 14 mill isn't that far off. Or I guess I could say it your way: "Lol, do some research before you comment, that would be AMAZING!".

DCUO's Battle for Earth pack spells the final confrontation with Braniac

Feb 15th 2012 3:42PM (Massively)
One of things I dislike about the structuring of DCUO's powersets is that its very hard to imagine how these new playsets work in game. I wish they would have followed the comic's archetypes for powers as well as travel powers.

BioWare: All our devs play SWTOR

Jan 31st 2012 7:58PM (Massively)
@edgecrusherO0 It isn't crazy for a Dev not to play there own game, and I doubt that ALL (if any) of there devs play as their PRIMARY game. Think of it in terms of an author, you spend all day writing and creating a story and (a good author) wouldn't necessarily need to read what you just wrote to understand where your at. Yea, an occasional reading helps to make sure your ideas are getting across, but if you wrote the book, you don't need to spend the same amount of reading as a fan would to reach the same level of familiarity with the story.

@GreenElf Let me know if it is. I would be interested in it if it is indeed related.

Not So Massively: Why are all these games still in beta?

Jan 31st 2012 4:20AM (Massively)
@Space Cobra I think its a form of free advertising as well. Your game will show up in searches for betas, as well as beta lists on websites such as this. Most of these games in an "extended beta" are usually free to play titles, and most (well, a lot) of these "beta testers" on these games are just looking for a free game.

PlayStation 3 patch to require more disk space for Final Fantasy XI

Jan 25th 2012 12:44AM (Massively)
@Space Cobra This is a BIG investment to play on a ps3. You will need to install from the ps2 discs, and further more, you will need both expansion CD's to access that content, and the three mini expansions can never be played on a ps2 or 3.

Unless you own these discs, or know someone that does, they run about 100 dollars for just the basic set.

SWTOR to get ability delay fixes but no Valor rollback [Updated]

@(Unverified) You sound like your 9 so... good job on the typing!

Grab a closed beta key for Jagged Alliance Online

Jan 21st 2012 5:36PM (Massively)
@Tazmanyak The starting presentation is horrible. You basically have to click and hope to figure things out in the beginning. Gameplay isn't very good, is very simple (compared to other "Tactics" games like Wakfu). The cash system seems to revolve around buying and repairing weapons, so is basically pay to win.
