Swype psyched to be on Droid X, fifty total devices by the end of 2010

Jun 24th 2010 2:46PM (Engadget)
@FrankDTank lol Yeah, I'm in a similar situation. I use (and love) Swype on my Nexus One. But then when I go to use my iPad, I can't stand the "regular" (e.g. non-Swype) virtual keyboard on it. Once you get used to Swype, there's no going back.

I use iController to have a scrolling display of the artist/song display in the Menu Bar. Worked really well for me and it's free.

Phone Data Outage hits North East: You're not alone

I'm in Illinois (Champaign-Urbana) and this was hitting me both yesterday and today. We don't have 3G here yet but Edge was out a good chunk of the day yesterday and then spotty when it came back. Edge was down again this morning but seems to be back now...for the moment. :-p

TUAW Review: DataCase for iPhone

Aug 12th 2008 11:49AM (TUAW.com)
@Max - Really? That didn't work for you? It did for me at home with my personal wireless network and DataCase. My Macbook Pro uses a wired connection to my router and my iPhone was using a WiFi connection and my iPhone showed up in Finder on my Macbook Pro with no problem.

I'm pretty sure both your iPhone and the computer you're using have to be on the same subnet for this to work with DataCase.

@Alex - Yes, doing the ad-hoc network method would require the computer to have its own wifi card in it.

It's true, unfortunately, that this will still leave a lot of corporate users in the lurch since wifi cards in desktop machines still aren't that common, but wifi cards/chipsets in laptops are quite common these days so going the ad-hoc route with DataCase might help out laptop users in environments with locked-down wireless networks.

True, WiFi access is usually limited in a lot of environments since the networks needs to be locked down for security purposes. However, if you have the ability to create an "ad-hoc" WiFi network directly on your machine this, too, will work with DataCase.

I tested this just now on my iMac in my office and it worked great. My iPhone showed right up in Finder.
