I saw something similar on Friday before Christmas. I was in the store strolling around when I hear "We have a limited number of PS3s in stock" over the speaker. I didn't see anyone trampling anyone to get to a sales person. Later that evening, I stopped in again. This time there was a sign over the demo kiosk "Yes we have PS3s in stock!"
The next morning I stopped in (Yes, I have issues. I like Best Buy :) ) and I heard one sales guy tell another that they had 23 in the afternoon, as of the morning they still had 5 and those were finally sold out by the following evening.
Not exactly SLOW sales but I wouldn't call that a blockbuster hit, either. Then again, come on, at $500 or $600 a pop, what family is going to drop the cash on that when they have gifts to buy for the kids?
Nice! I still prefer iChat for my AIM usage but, like you, not everyone wants to play on the same service. So I use Adium for my other IM names. I'm looking forward to seeing this.
