Notch hopes to be working on one of three games by summer

Now if only they would rewrite Minecraft in something besides Java.

Wipeout 2048's intro cinematic takes us through our future past

@Jakintosh

It's also possible that it's a naming convention for DLC so they don't have to keep coming up with subtitles like "Fury" every time they want to put out a game expansion. This way they'd be able to release new "seasons" as DLC expansions.

Snap into a Skyrim with the 'Macho Men' mod

@jchan

Agreed. I'm also curious as to why they opted for Disco Inferno by The Trammps as opposed to Macho Man by The Village People, or even Savage's entrance theme Pomp And Circumstance.

Great idea but I'm going on record saying it wasn't thought out as well as it could have been.

Xbox Live Fall Dashboard preview: From 'nonsense' to Metro

@Master Troll Nope. The big center square is a "new stuff" box that'll scroll through what's currently new in terms of content (movies on Zune, games on XBLA, deals, etc) which will become category specific as you navigate left or right. The two left boxes are category-specific menus/options, and the bottom right box is an advertisement (likely relevant to the current category). Not sure what's up with the top right box, though.

Xbox Live Fall Dashboard preview: From 'nonsense' to Metro

@Alex Oglitchkin Truthfully, the current dashboard is actually a lot closer to Sony's XMB (just rotated and with category looping).

The tab-style category navigation still looks the same, but actually browsing within a category looks nothing like XMB (and is certainly a lot less restrictive than XMB's tree-style navigation).

Sony's Rob Dyer criticizes Microsoft's content policies

Going to go ahead and avoid the console war and get down to brass tax:

Neither console is really superior to the other (both have their advantages and disadvantages, it comes down to preference). As far as the consoles themselves are concerned, go with what your heart desires.

Unfortunately, for those of us who actually own an Xbox 360 (myself included) Microsoft's policies make it really difficult for us to enjoy our gaming experience. And, apparently it's making it really difficult for PS3 owners to enjoy it as well.

Policies like these put a bottleneck on the entire industry, as no developer is going to risk not having their game on the higher selling of the two consoles. It's really unfair for both publishers and players.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my Xbox, but Microsoft is the single most anal company in the business when it comes to policies and restrictions, and it honestly feels to me like this sort of thing should be considered unfair competition in a legal sense.

In brief I would love so much to see developers stop following this policy altogether and see this whole thing to backfire on Microsoft. You can't sell a console if you aren't offering the big titles.

Guild Wars 2 preview: Common sense

Aug 28th 2011 11:13AM (Joystiq)
@Anthelios The given direction and availability of quests is based on decisions and outcomes made during the current and previous quests. Given the game also has a static world that will do its own things behind the scenes, the available quests could also change without player input.

This sounds fairly dynamic to me.

Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition review: Aged to perfection

Aug 22nd 2011 6:19PM (Joystiq)
"The only fault with Player match implementation was an inability to save replays if more than two players are in a room; if the match ends with your own personal EVO Moment 37, and someone else is waiting in the lobby, it will be lost forever to the annals of history. While it's important to minimize the time spent between rounds in order to maximize the playtime of everyone in the lobby, excluding the option to save your replay feels like a concession that didn't need to be made."

Worth noting, I'm pretty sure this is one reason the Unsaved Replays menu was added to the game.

Get some robotics in there with pre-programmed sequences and this would be really cool.
