They could even make a fairly large shell with analog thumbsticks, and it because it would be optional, it wouldn't make the device larger for those who don't want complex games.

If the controller isn't moving much, the pitch and roll of the controller can always be calculated accurately.

reasons why this thing is a brilliant idea... It gets you to the store, and it lets other customers in game stores see the DS in use... it increases exposure. If Nintendo is smart, they will release a demo of Zelda DS before it comes out, and get a lot of users playing their DS systems at stores.

Feb 25th 2006 2:18AM (Joystiq)Graphics will always be able to be improved, but it will take bigger and bigger steps in hardware to notice improvements. But we are nearing the point where better graphics won't allow new gameplay. Nintendo knows this, so is trying to innovate in other areas.
Audio is all pre-recorded, so unless it is dynamically simulated, it doesn't have much room to improve.
