How to Cope with Post-Avatar Blues

Jan 6th 2010 12:05PM (Scifi Squad)
Dear lord. Our society is so in search of answers that kids, generation after generation, turn to films to provide some sort of philosophy.

Don't these kids know about the already 1,000,000,000 already existent religions out there? Ones that don't revolve around really great CG and really mediocre story?

This reminds me of all the discussion after The Matrix Reloaded.

Sneak peek look at Cha-Ching for iPhone

Feb 26th 2009 12:34PM (TUAW.com)
Glad to see this is finally coming out.

Something that isn't mentioned here - this *does* sync with the Desktop version, correct? That was my biggest desire with wanting this application so much, as I use Cha-Ching locally, but having an iphone version that synced and reconciled would be ridiculously useful.

Frankly, I'm lazy like most people, and I'm more willing to quickly type in an expenditure into my iphone when I'm at the location rather than later, when I get back to my system, have to pull out my receipts, etc.

Are iPhone 3Gs developing cracks?

I've just checked my phone - and sure enough - i've got about a 2 inch, straight crack down the center. You can't feel it, it's beneath the surface of the clear coating, but it's definitely there.

TUAW Interview: Filmmaker Dennis Liu

The girl in the 'video' is cute and all, and the video is fun, but I prefer the real video for the song myself.

Colbert none too pleased about loss to Miyamoto

John Stewart > Colbert.

There's a difference between funny commentary on issues compared to over the top satire. I prefer stewart by far.

This could be the first video footage of Windows 7

I don't know if it's real or not, but I for one think Vista looks really nice. There's really no reason to change the way it looks, maybe only the way it functions.

And even then - I don't think Vista's broken. And I"m a Mac user :p

All I know is before Vista, dumb dumbs complained that XP was too insecure, that they'd get virus, that crap would be installed without their permission, blah blah blah. Vista comes out, and now everyone complains about how it always wants someone's permission.

yeah, so does OSX. Big whoop. No one seems to care about that.

See yet another new ad for Halo 3

And what exactly was offensive about that amazing ad?

Will it blend? If it's an iPod, you betcha

My blender won't even blend ice :( These things rock!

Mac OS X update adds regular check-ins with Apple servers

I'm surprised at how many people are saying, "No big deal!" when those SAME PEOPLE constantly lambaste Microsoft for the WGA phoning home.

Phoning home is a bitch, but you know what - it's going to happen more and more.

Is Microsoft's Origami ready to take wing?

I get the form factor. Kinda. It's small(er) so it's kinda portable - but it also seems rather scratch prone, since there's nothing protecting the screen. Even the Nintendo DS knows to protect the screen, but perhaps it'll just have a big sleeve or people will buy skins.

My big question is: What's the operating system? If it's just WindowsXP or some TabletPC derivative, then it's not particularly earth shattering. We can see all the Star Treck photos you want, but that really means little if the operating system is still significantly keyboard interface intrensic.

A new paradigm is necessary to make this project worthwhile. Otherwise...who cares, really?
