The whole idea of the Xbox was to make a console running with DirectX, that's why it's so easy to port Xbox titles to PC (and vica versa, and 'easy' here being relative compared to, say... the PS) because the function and API calls are the same.
(By the way the Radeon in the Xbox 360 is a custom job, and it supports DX9 with tiny subset of DX10)
I'm pretty sure that Nintendo doesn't have the know-how to implement DirectX unless Mircosoft helps them out (I see no reason why, because this would mean they're giving one of their major competitive edges to a competitor) because you know, you need to modify the code, completely recompile it for Wii-U... Too much work to 'just license' it.
Think about is this way: Those people NEVER had the intention of buying a PS3, now they do, a lot of exclusives are of Sony's 1st party Devs, and those exclusives are made to boost PS3 sales. So the only thing (by my logic, so assuming only people without a PS3 will buy one and start pirating) that will happen to Sony, is boosted PS3 sales....
I like it how they have integrated Zune into WinMo7 so that Europe and other countries can finally experience that great UI, but it's not important for me. Phone DAC and OPAMPs are usually of low(er) quality. And I've got a Zune 120 and Zune HD 32 (ironically bought it like a week before the 64Gb announcement), oh and I live in Europe (imported them) :).
And I'll be happy. But really, what I hate about this whole New generation of "smartphones" and their "apps" (read: games), is that (I'm thinking iPhone here) all the kids want an iPhone from their parents because it's just a way to game 24/7 and parents buy it because they think its main function will be a phone.
It's good to have some nice ways to entertain yourself, and Xbox integration makes a lot of sense, but I think that the whole App Market Place / Gaming should not be the main features of a PHONE. Consider me old-fashioned (although I'm merely 18-19) but I think the touchscreen is a gimmick, and my perfect phone would me nokia E71 with a touchscreen (to press buttons and for browsing). Having said that, Dell Lightning Day one purchase! (unless I can get a 1.5Ghz WinMo7 model, preferably with a metal frame)
I am aware of the fact that Milo doesn't really respond (probable only Negative and a Positive response) but the experience is completely different, because you create an answer (pretty sure the AI just looks for some keywords like "cool" "garden" "snail"). Should have been clearer in my original comment :).
I remember reading (engadget) about Kinect not being able to detect sign language because of the low res. cameras, but in the microsoft quote: "Kinect that is shipping this holiday will not support sign language." it becomes obvious that better Kinect hardware will come out some time after the initial release.
Remembering that Microsoft has also said that "Hardcore" games for Kinect will arrive later (0.5 - 1 Year), so my guess would be that Better Kinect hardware (cameras, maybe that built in cpu after all) would come out (with a heavier price tag I assume) for us, the "Big Boy Games" gamers...
So because of that I'm not getting Kinect at launch (unless it's bundled with Milo :) )

Wii U graphics chip outed as last-gen Radeon (which is still pretty good, apparently)

Aug 19th 2010 7:26AM (Joystiq)Strictly speaking, 18. But considering the nearness of me *shrug* birthday, you could say almost 19.
Was using my age to illustrate my point.

And the sign language thing was because of the low res cameras they're using http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/11/microsoft-says-kinect-wont-support-sign-language-downgraded-ca/
So I wouldn't rule out a "better" Kinect coming out somewhere along the road (Maybe The Next Xbox?)
