Hold up there. Did the Japanese public even know what horrendous war crimes their soldiers where committing at the time? I highly doubt they received frequent news reports saying "We just killed thousands of Chinese women and children in the name of our glorious Emperor" or anything like that. I'm pretty sure the Japanese Government wouldn't have publicized those stories, much like the Nazi's glossed over their "work camps"
Hang on - Germany also fought to the last man, they where even using the Hitler Youth! They didn't give up until the last possible moment (i.e. when Hitler shot himself), so I don't see why the Japanese had to be nuked TWICE. Also, intentionally killing thousands of civilians to make your enemy back down seems more like terrorism to me than anything else - and if that aint a war crime, then I don't know what is.
So razing 70,000+ civilians, along with some American POW's, Chinese labourers and Japanese-American citizens is justified when the enemy doesn't give up fast enough? Rubbish.
My opinion of how the Japanese are portrayed depends partly on how the Russians are portrayed. The Russian army also committed many war crimes, one of the biggest ones being that as soon as they got to Berlin, the soldiers raped any young woman they could get their hands on. Many German women committed suicide the day after.
If the Germans and the Japanese are going to be portrayed like... well, like the first 5 minutes of World at War, then the Russians should receive the same treatment at the end of their campaign. And I think that after an opening mission like that, some of the American war crimes should be portrayed too, one of those being Hiroshima.
Although Japan and Germany clearly committed the most war crimes, it doesn't make America and Russia innocent, and I wouldn't be impressed if Treyarch glosses over that in favour of making the Germans and Japanese seem like inhuman monsters. Yet I also hope they show that there where good, innocent people on ALL sides of the war - Allied and Axis.
That, and anyone in the industry who bashes the entire Tekken series has got some serious fucking balls.
Maybe there's a bit of a cover-up going on here? This could be about porting NG2 to PS3, which would make more money for Tecmo but the only thing in the way of that would be Itagaki himself.
Oh, and to anyone calling crybaby over this, there's a big difference between external criticism and internal criticism from the president which could damage relationships between employees (that is, if Itagaki claims are truthful).
I doubt I'll get picked, but I signed up for the hell of it. This game has more potential than previous attempts at console RTS games, and I'm really hyped because of it.
They've updated it for HD, online scoreboards, online co-op and what would have been the back bits on a tv have been replaces with some kind of pretty background.
Sorry mate, Treasure (the company who made Ikaruga) have said they're going 360 exclusive. Despite not liking the 360, I still think it's a pity that PS3 owners won't be able to experience this masterpiece.
