Resident Evil 6 announced by Capcom, arriving November 20 on 360/PS3 with PC version later

Jan 19th 2012 5:55PM (Joystiq)
That looks way better than I expected it would and it's nice that it's only 10 months away. It also gives me time to actually play RE5. I'm expecting Bioshock Infinite to release right around the same time though so RE5 will definitely have to wait. I'd also bet RE6 ends up coming out in early 2013. This Fall is looking more crowded than 2011 was and a good chunk of Japanese titles jumped ship for early 2012 as it was.

Rocksmith DLC: Don't Fear the Barracuda swimming through the Space Oddity

Jan 19th 2012 1:07PM (Joystiq)
$3 per song is definitely pricy but it has to be a lot more work to author a song, especially with the dynamic difficulty levels.

I haven't bought any DLC yet because I'm still working through what's on the disc but I could see myself buying all three of these at some point.

I'd like to see some more 90s stuff in the next pack. Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, more Radiohead.

PSA: Call of Duty Elite app now available on Android Market

Jan 17th 2012 5:01PM (Joystiq)
Does Elite even work properly yet? I was on there a week or two ago and my stats were all messed up. I'm about ready to give up on MW3 anyway, it's been consistently laggy for the past few weeks despite having had more title updates than the last 3 COD's combined.

12 for '12 sale offers 30-50% off great PSN titles

Jan 16th 2012 5:40PM (Joystiq)
@BlueRajasmyk

Agreed. I don't even play games on my PC and own exactly one Steam game, but seeing a game on sale on Steam for $2.50 and then seeing it on sale on XBLA a couple weeks later for $7.50 (as was the case with Orcs Must Die) is a complete turnoff.

Microsoft's sales have been awful recently. Usually I buy a bunch of games during the holiday season but this past year I didn't buy any. I probably would've purchased Beyond Good and Evil when it was $3 but my account was on lock down from being hacked.

Penny Arcade to cover the game industry with help from veteran game journo Ben Kuchera

Jan 16th 2012 12:06PM (Joystiq)
@PointlessPuppies This is Penny Arcade we're talking about, it's not the place people go for objectivity any more than they watch Colbert or Stewart for the same.

I've never heard of the guy before but PA is a smart group so I'm sure he'll fit in well. Besides, I'll take blatant bias over feigned objectivity any day. Personality is not objective.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus added to North America's Vita launch lineup

Jan 6th 2012 1:15PM (Joystiq)
@Kadrom

I believe Gamestop has it listed as a launch day title, but the US name is Gravity Rush. I'd have to agree that it's the most interesting PSV title.

Amy to launch next week with a mysterious price structure

Jan 5th 2012 5:27PM (Joystiq)
Wow, I was interested in this game from the little I've read about it but:

A. For some reason I thought it was PSN exclusive, and I sold my PS3 years ago.

B. I thought it was coming out later in 2012

So it's pretty awesome to find out it's coming out in a few days, I can actually play it, and it's only $10 to boot. Fingers crossed that it's good.

Best of the Rest: Dave's picks of 2011

@Bryan T I'd actually be surprised if Catherine doesn't make the top 3. I seem to remember Joystiq giving it a lot of love over the year and if Shadows of the Damned made the list at all, Catherine has a solid shot at number one.

Best of the Rest: Dave's picks of 2011

@Korbie I pretty much bought my iPod for Sword and Sworcery and had been following the game's development for over a year. I'm a sucker for arty indie games. I found it to be completely boring. The "puzzles" are awful and often just involve tapping randomly until something happens and not really understanding what you did. The visuals are very cool but they weren't enough to get me to keep playing past the second chapter.

Gears of War 3 'Season Pass,' props on sale today

Dec 30th 2011 5:17PM (Joystiq)
As far as I can tell props aren't anywhere near as visible as they were in the previous dashboard. My portal gun is still equipped but I can't see it anywhere. I'm glad I never paid money for any of this stuff.

@munebeam Yeah they really dropped the ball on promos this year. Last year they had Portal for $5, Splosion Man for $2, Guardian of Light for $5. It was the closest they ever came to Steam quality deals.

Way too much focus on DLC, which IMO needs to be permanently reduced in price or made free after a certain point. It's one thing to have a $10 DLC episode when a game is $60. When it's a year old and can be purchased for $10-$15, that hour or two long episode now costs as much as the entire game, making it laughably overpriced.
