Silicon Knights/Epic lawsuit turns in Epic's favor, reveals past SK projects including King's Quest

@CaptainProtonX

Ahh yes, the infamous Nintendo curse. Is that the one responsible for the huge success of all those former Nintendo exclusive franchises on the original PlayStation?

Rare and SK are exceptions when it comes to companies who left Nintendo exclusivity or near exclusivity. The difference is, Nintendo could have retained both of them if they had chosen to but clearly they felt neither were worth it.

Portal 2 crowned best game of 2011 by the Associated Press

@Shadowbender

All of that stuff would be great if the gameplay was there to back it up. I was about 15-20 hours in when I stopped playing and it mostly had to do with the fact that the combat is awful. Most of my points were in one-handed and destruction but neither meleeing nor magic were particularly effective against almost anything. They seemed to want to make things more streamlined and action oriented yet I spend way more time going in and out of menus in the middle of a fight than I ever did in Morrowind or Oblivion (which I played for something like 90 hours) It's not particularly satisfying after playing for so many hours to be so ineffective against random enemies. Then a dragon shows up (in all it's laughably animated glory) and I kill him in 30 seconds with barely a dent in my health meter. The game is amazingly unbalanced. I can't remember the last game I played that continually made me feel like I was doing something wrong the entire time. And I had just come off of 100 hours of Dark Souls before playing Skyrim.

Mid-Q1? Why not just say February, or even better,Valentine's Day and be done with it?

Android users to explore The Dark Meadow in 2012

@mguniverse Nope, I thought it was awful. I was very glad I waited until it was 99ยข to buy it.

Xenoblade Chronicles headed to North America on April 3, 2012 [update: it's true!]

@John Z It's a placeholder listed as "GS exclusive"? I don't think so.

This makes perfect sense and wouldn't be the first time Nintendo has done a retailer exclusive on a game that they weren't convinced was going to sell well.

They can even gauge how many copies to print based on preorders.

Yeah you're probably right, I forgot about all the Chinese Villagers in Raccoon City ;P

Portabliss: Infinity Blade 2 (iOS)

I thought the best thing about the original was the world (or what little was hinted at after you beat the God King) but I'll be damned if I understand what people see in the gameplay. I never even unlocked the Infinity Blade (which is required to access the extra areas) because I got bored long before I got close to having enough gold.

There's something wrong when your business model is to make the game so repetitive that people would rather pay money to get to the good stuff than actually play it.

It's mindblowing to me that games like this and Dark Meadow are almost universally hailed as the standard for what portable games should be. It's like back in the Sega CD days when FMV games were going to be the future.

Rocksmith DLC adds Vampire Weekend, T. Rex, Three Days Grace

@TheKbob Yeah I got it from Gamestop on Black Friday (also $50) because Amazon had already sold out...but then they put it back up again. I'm still waiting on my Gstop order despite it having "shipped" on Friday. My favorite part is the UPS tracking page insisting that Thursday delivery is well within 3 business days from last Friday.

Amazon shipping is definitely awesome.

Telltale devs caught juking Metacritic user reviews, studio stands behind them

Gamespot had to crack down on them because they've got the monopoly on giving games insane review scores.
