Playstation 3 is jack of all trades, master of none.

It's processing power is unsurpassed, but lack of decent memory makes it pointless.

Blu-Ray is definetly cutting edge, but too costly and imperfect.

In essence, there is a better device out there for any of the Playstation 3s tasks, media functionality, gaming and HD-DVD/Blu-Ray drive.

And at 600 bucks, and shit avaliability, it is totally too much of a hassle to bother. I could grab a HD-DVD drive, a 360 and a few games/movies and still have change left over. And I could do that now. Right now. Not in 5 months, not waiting in a line outside a shop[ for 3 days.

With GTA4 coming to 360, and nearly all of the PS3 launch titles on 360 too (I think 4 games were PS3 exclusive), and Konami making strong rumors of MGS4 coming Microsofts way, and with the 360 having an OPTIONAL HD-DVD drive for those who don't have a HDTV or dont want one, a 360 is totally the way to go for next gen gaming.

That said, I'm off now to pick up my Wii and it will change my mind in about 3 seconds. Cya

When will people realise that color depth, contrast and brightness are all massively more important than resolution.

You can barely tell the difference between 1080 and 720 at best, especially on quality televisions.

Also, I wish Joystiq would get over their 'OH LOLZ YOU CAN DRAW ON THE WII' thing, every post yesterday featured some sort of graffiti'd Wii.

This isn't so much of a problem for Germans as you may think. Sure, they won't be able to go down to their local game store and pick it up, but in the EU importing is extremely easy and common, so much so that they could just order it online.

It's not as if noone in Germany is ever going to play Gears of War, it will have reduced sales for sure, but not so much as the article implies.

Everyone creates a Drizzt clone first time round anyways, so why not roll with it.
