THQ no longer manufacturing uDraw hardware

Feb 4th 2012 9:58PM (Joystiq)
@Juneau888: I completely, COMPLETELY agree with you. Their complete lack of marketing (coherent or otherwise) was the UDraw's downfall. I hadn't even heard of the product until about a week before Christmas.

This is NOT the way to properly market your product -- just ask Apple. They build up demand for weeks and months, then when the product finally comes out, there is a huge surge of sales.

The Battlefield 3 fanboi wars are nearly as bad as the Mac vs. PC fanboi wars... or the PS3 vs. XBOX360 wars! Why can't we all just get along? :)

@CleanUndies: You and me both! I have seen exactly ONE commercial on TV for this product. They really need to do a better job of advertising this product's presence.

@Esposch I am getting really sick of the disparity of prices from my iPhone to my 3DS. Not only this game, but everything:

Scrabble: $7.99 on DSiWare; $0.99 on iPhone
Zenonia: $7.99 on DSiWare; $0.99 on iPhone

etc., etc., etc. (I'm lazy to find others.)

The navi software was written by Microsoft, right? Maybe they made the A/C software too... that would explain everything.

"iPhone dead in water," claims Business Insider

Apple won't join in the "race to the bottom" on personal computers, so why should they do the same for phones? It amazes me that whole "cheap = better" mindset still exists today. I'm sure Apple would love 100% of the phone market, but I'm also sure they'll be happy with 25%, driven to continue to increase that number.

I'm also interested to see how Google's choice to make Honeycomb (Android 3.0) closed-source, like Apple, will affect their sales. The Droid-heads that I know are always preaching about their open platform. Not anymore. The whole patent issues thing with Android and Microsoft, as well as H.264 vs. webM, could have some major implications on the Android platform.

Did they have to redirect the browser to a specific location, get the user to download some code, and then execute it like last year? These "contests" are so contrived.
