Download Tekken 5 on PS3, for PS3

Dec 7th 2006 9:11AM (Joystiq)
Wait a sec...

If Blu-Ray is needed to deliver "next-gen" games, then how on earth can these same games be downloaded?

Please, someone explain why the discs have to be 25-50 gb, yet in the same breath we can download full fledged titles? Smells like more Sony bullshit to me.

PS3 may miss production goals ... again

To Crono: I too work in manufacturing and you're dead on the money. If they can't get the production issues sorted out in the next 6 months they'll be too far behind to catch up.

And regarding exclusives, if I was a developer making a next-gen game I have a choice. Assuming it's really good game and 1 in 10 people who own the system buy my game, I can make $120MM on the 360 or $90MM on the PS3. Or I can make ~$150MM if I release it for both systems.

Sorry PS3 fans. Unless Sony can find a way to convince developers that it's a good idea to pass up $30-$60MM in revenues your "exclusives" are going to keep coming out on 360.

MS has the $$$ to sign $30MM exclusivity deals and not miss the money. Sony is losing $60MM/month just selling their hardware! Goodnight Sony, it's been fun.

NY Times: The PS3 "isn't that great"

Man, I am so freaking glad I didn't buy one of these.

Today's hottest game video

The Blu-Ray scratch problem will be an issue for a while. There is .1mm of plastic between the data and the rest of the world on a BD. DVD/HD-DVD/CD has .6mm of plastic protecting the data. That's an 83% reduction in protection!

How many of you have scratched CD's? Sony knows this. Remember when BD launched they came in cartridges like mini-discs. Be really careful with your BD games and movies!!!

I have a cable card slot but don't use it. I'm too dependant on the DVR box from the cable company!

The funny thing about all this is that we all used to be Sony fanboys! I loved my PS2. PS1 was the balls. But Sony has totally lost touch with gamers. They've shown us all their priorities and they suck...

Nintendo: Money, Cool Games, New Gamers
Microsoft: Money, Gamer communities, Cool Games
Sony: Money, Blu-Ray, Money, Sony 1080p tv's, Money

To Sony fans, we're all pissed off at Sony because we don't see how the "gamer" is important to them, at all. A proper PS3 would lack Blu-Ray, would be $400, and would have launched last year. BOOM!

GameStop's holdin' out on us?

What's that restaurant you like, with all the goofy shit on the wals?

Which is it, Sony? "Blu-ray is dead!" or "Long live Blu-ray!"?

Blu-Ray is screwed for one reason.. mpeg-2

Maybe next time Sony should invent a good codec for their new format instead of using one that's over 10 years old. Blu-Ray looks like shit next to HD-DVD. Don't believe me? Go check out an actual movie at the store (not a demo disc).
