Sessler says quit hating on Halo 3 already

Oct 12th 2007 10:07AM (Joystiq Xbox)
I wouldn't consider myself a hater, but I don't understand the fascination. I've played through all three halo games, and spent a bit of time online with 2 and 3. I have a ton of respect for what the first one did for console FPS games. It was the first one to get the controls right.

However, as time went on I found that better games came out. I thought the Timesplitter series has always stayed one step ahead of Halo in both single and multiplayer. Also, after spending a significant time playing Warhawk online (split screen with my wife), then playing Halo 3, I found that there are some significant balance issues with Halo. Frequently the winner of a battle would essentially be decided simply by who had the best weapon, and I found it difficult to find a way to make up for my underpowered weapon using strategy.

I know that those people that love Halo hate hearing about how other people hate it, and for that I apologize. However, please remember that there are people who hate hearing unending praise for a game that they feel is only mediocre.

Mizuguchi doesn't say much about Wii Space Channel 5

Sep 18th 2007 2:42PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
It's funny that you mention Space Channel 5 just sitting on shelves. Whenever I see a copy just sitting their my first instinct is to buy it (even though I already own it) just because it deserves to be purchased. I know I could initially just give my unneeded copies to my friends, but eventually I would just end with a stock pile of the game...then I remember that I have enough trouble storing the games that I have (with only a few duplicates) and I don't need 30 copies of Space Channel 5

DS Daily: Romantic entanglements

Sep 11th 2007 10:08AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
While we didn't meet in any Nintendo related way (we did meet online however), my wife an a nintendo fan-girl. She is on her second DS (we had to upgrade once the Lites came out), and has played a sickening amount of Oundan / Elite Beat, has a whole bunch of Yoshi merch including a remote control kart, bobble head, slot cars and shirts. We usually have a game that we play together, and up until two weeks ago (with the release of Warhawk) they have always been Gamecube/Wii games.

Super Columbine supporters shun Slamdance

I don't think that it is that these developers feel that SCMRPG was an amazing title, but that instead that there shouldn't be any censorship in the festival. It's all about principles.

Mario ringtone marks over two years on charts. Who knew?

I have a Katamari Damacy as well as a LocoRoco ring tone. Like many here, I didn't buy them (I probably would have if they were offered though)

Half-Life 2 on Mac, without Windows

Oct 4th 2006 11:41AM (Joystiq)
As a Mac user, and a serious gamer (although I'm pretty casual when it comes to PC games), I'm really looking forward to this kind of technology (cider in particular). I'll finally be able to play PC games without having to worry about maintaining a Window environment, and rebooting.

I think as Mac use continues to climb more developers will be willing to put the (small amount) of money into getting a near-native "port" of their game on the Mac.
