Damn right that law's in effect. NES -> SNES = a FAR greater jump than PS2 -> PS3.
Re: LongShotX
You proved yourself a retard with this statement. "(selling fewer at higher prices= selling more at lower prices)" Man, what the hell is profit margin anyway? Before discussing economic matters it might be good to have a knowledge of rudimentary economics. Leave the internet, please, you're just too stupid.
Try again, Jacques. It's not in Nintendo's interest to hold back supply when demand is as huge as it is, it's in their interest to be able to make sure people who come in wanting Tiger Woods or Super Paper Mario based on the advertising can actually buy a unit and walk out able to play the newest release.
How is the 360 Elite comparable to any major "new, better" product launch, and how is it appealing to anyone but the tiny group of people who NEED the HDMI, black finish, or bigger HDD and are willing to lay out $480 to buy it? Seriously, the thinking that the Elite is a big deal when it's a goofy specialty product designed for the UBER niche and super hardcore people who will buy anything with the Xbox brand on it is ridiculous to me. I still think the leaving out integrated Wi-Fi was a complete kick in the nuts.
Steve: Supply issues like, I still have yet to see one on store shelves anywhere besides the one I lined up on launch day to buy? Nobody can tell what things would be if supplies were plentiful because every unit they make is moving, but I don't think they're just short 10 units, and if they made 10 more, people would stop buying Wii.
The "keep making PS2 games" argument is definitely a good one, and I'd DEFINITELY like to see more active PS2 development. I want to meet the people who say "Man, this PS2 is so old and busted, these games are no fun anymore."
Jack: Well done. I applaud thee. That was quality troll action, though still not quite blind and infuriating enough to rise to HOF levels.
I think it's telling that the Wiimote is already well on its way to iconic status 9 months in. Talk about product recognition. The two Tiger Woods Wii commercials demonstrate this as well as anything. I think the other piece being left out here is that people seem to think that once Mario Galaxy, SSBB, and Metroid Prime 3 come out, that's it, that's all the Wii has, when really, it feels to me like they're "clearing the queue" and that's when the Wii will REALLY start to be harnessed, as we see the fruits of everyone jumping on board from the gigantic initial success and diverting development resources from the other systems to the Wii.
In other words, people who talk about the "Wii software drought in '08" need to get a grip. Once there's as huge a Wii install base as is growing now, the software WILL follow. Super Mario Bros. was a "fad" for the NES as well, and look how that turned out.
