Microsoft: Xbox Live Gold subscribers use service 3 hours per day

Nov 11th 2010 9:31PM (Joystiq)
I don't want to have a conversation with that guy, he's like, "very, very engaged" and "really, really key". It's kind of, kind of annoying.

PSA: Xbox Live Gold Family Pack now available

Nov 3rd 2010 5:54PM (Joystiq)
This could be great for people like me, there are four accounts in my house and if they can be joined into a family plan and retain their purchases, this would be infinitely convenient. I will have to research how it works.

Tokyo Game Show 2010 promising more products, fewer RPGs

Sep 4th 2010 9:33AM (Joystiq)
@Teh Rei They're never going to let go because I decide what Japan does, and does not do. They will keep making RPG's. Exactly...

Xbox Live subscription prices to rise; $60 for 1 year beginning in Nov. [update]

Aug 30th 2010 5:56PM (Joystiq)
This really is the last straw for me. I've been an Xbox Live veteran for years, playing through lots of great games and a great service. But I'm afraid that as the Xbox's focus continues to shift, I can no longer support it. I have gone through all of the garbage, random maintenance, suspended without merit (Which I finally proved I had not hacked/cheated and I recieved no apology, not even my suspended time back), I have reported innappropriate content and cheaters to no reply, I suffered that extended poor quality run a few years back, I've even taken the meaningless Dashboard replacement which simply introduced tons of new space for unnecessary and unrelated ads to spam me. All of this while paying a fee... And now they want to raise it? I'm really disappointed in the course of Microsoft's Xbox but wany any of you interested in purchasing said console/service to understand that my opinion is one of someone who was watched it deteriorate and that if you've never used it, it won't appear as poor to you. At this point, it is just saddening to me but with the focus of Microsoft clearly in blind greed, I have officially shifted to others such as the PS3 and Steam, where I can find the aame, if not more features, with fewer disappointments and no fee... Sorry Microsoft, but I won't play this game with you any longer.

You could buy this $435 Super Mario Bros. sweater, or ...

Aug 29th 2010 1:56AM (Joystiq)
Oh my god what the hell is that? If i buy it for $435 dollars and I get a $500 mail in rebate, then maybe I would but if any of you buy that, I'll beat you with a stick!

The benefits of building your own gaming PC

Aug 26th 2010 1:12AM (Joystiq)
I don't know what the hell people put in their computers that costs so much because I built mine for 500 dollars just a month ago and I put an AMD Quad-Core Deneb Black, ATI Radeon HD 4770. 4 gigs of kingston ram (Because there's no need for more than that), and just a couple other things. For that 500, I'm playing every game rec dntly maxed at an average of 100 fps and Crysis maxed at an average of 50 fps. I try to wonder where it costs more than a thousand for some because mine is pretty much maxed with a 7.5 on Windows maximum of 7.9 rating. Really, I think people jump ahead of themselves when all you have to do is play it smart to gdt a game to work great. Just find the tricks, volumetric effects, pointless mile away shadows, and overdone motion blur are examples of things that when disabled, spit you back like 10-20 fps.

Cosplayers will compete at Tokyo Game Show's 'Metal Gear Cosplay Camp'

Aug 24th 2010 8:30AM (Joystiq)
@SmokemeaKipper Oh, don't worry about that, this is Japan so I'm sure that a signifigant number of females will dress up as snake. If that doesn't work for you, they'll probably just find a mind bending way to make cardboard boxes attractive...

HAWX 2 demo soars next week on PS3 and 360

Aug 14th 2010 1:12AM (Joystiq)
Actually, I know that I just couldn't enjoy HAWX at all. Don't get me wrong, it's a great game but after playing most of the Ace Combat games with their impressive and detailed stories in a well planned fictional world, HAWX left a somewhat dry taste in my mouth. However, that could very easily be because I played Ace Combat way before HAWX came out and generally prefer it.

Nomura offers updates on upcoming Square Enix projects

I really love Square-Enix and their games but I have to say, their schedule has become quite a mess for themselves.

HAWX 2 spreads its wings September 7

Jul 28th 2010 11:57PM (Joystiq)
@Dustin F Oh am I jealous of you PS3 owners with the backwards compatability. God knows how many times I've shoved PS2 games into my PS3 slim and hoped for a miracle. I love the PS2 Ace Combat games and Ace Combat 6 was great as well. The PSP ones are even pretty good but HAWX blew by and I am afraid I just could not like it.
