Review: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (single player)

Mar 10th 2010 6:00PM (Joystiq)
i served in the military for seven years. if bc2 was trying to recreate what average joes in the military sound like, they did it. we used to drop f'bombs like crazy. i've now been out almost 2 years and have been able to shake myself (mostly) of the habit we use f'bombs as much as the girls from "clueless" use "like". we never said it to be "edgy," it's just the way we talked. just part of the every day vernacular of most people in the military. here's an example:

"this game is one of the better fps's i've played this year"

when i was in the military, i would have probably said,

"holy f', this f'ing game is one of the f'ing better f'ing games i've f'ing played.. goddamn.. dude, check this f'ing sh** out."

we also used "f'ing" instead of "um". as in:

"go get that umm... OE-254 from commo"

in the miltiary, i probably would have said the above statement like:

"hey, go f'ing grab that f'ing... f'ing... f'ing... OE-254, from f'ing commo"

again, we weren't saying these things to be "edgy" or whatever. it's just the way we talked in the military. and, in all honesty, almost every one i knew in the military and every one in my unit cursed and used f'bombs.
