Fed launches national auto database to curb theft, fraud. Only took 17 years

Jan 27th 2010 2:15PM (Autoblog)
Yes, I read the article and my grasp of English is such that I did indeed understand it ...but thanks for summarizing!

... really though what's to stop titles from being wash into these into and out of these states?

Fed launches national auto database to curb theft, fraud. Only took 17 years

Sounds like there is still some room for fraud with those states that opted not to participate. If it's to truly be a national database, shouldn't participation by all states be mandatory?

Motorola Droid stands in for glamorous photo shoot

As a current Iphone user, I'm very excited for this phone. Definitely agree that it could use some sexing up in the looks dept though. I like the boxy design, but that little cleft, chin, extension, whatever you want to call it at the bottom just kills the look. I'm ready for a more open phone (yes, even though my Iphone is jailbroken) and to get off of ATT's cappy network. I'm done with half a dozen dropped calls from my home every day! If ATT is smart they will price their femtocell solution at $50.

Now i just need to find out how much VZW is going to rape me on a voice/data plan before i switch back!

Sony timing its PS3 price cut to roll with Madden, homework?

Anyone else offended by the grave robbing comments? Uncharted is about more than grave robbing... it's about action, adventure, exploration ...and shooting lots and lots of dudes. Get it straight!

Emotiva sets the UMC-1 processor for next month, more goodies to come

Jun 6th 2009 6:43PM (Engadget HD)
Finally! I've been waiting for this to ship for ages. I'm disappointed that there won't be any balanced (XLR) and headphone output though. Maybe I'll have to consider the XMC but I suspect that take forever too! My MPS-1 needs a preamp companion...

Ask Engadget HD: What's the best mainstream Blu-ray player?

Jun 3rd 2009 5:06PM (Engadget HD)
PS3.... SLIM!

It's a rumor, but it's sounds like a pretty solid possibility. This will be hands down the best blu-ray player when it hits (unless you need Netflix).
- smaller form factor
- less heat and noise (likely)
- possibly even a $300 price point!
- plus you can play Uncharted 2 on it... Uncharted 2!!!

Metaforic unveils new anti-copying measures for DS games

I used my DS way more after getting a flashcart simply because I didn't need to carry a bunch of games with me every time I left the house. Isn't that what portability is all about?

Exclusive by Design: Bertone Mantide priced at $2M, only 10 will be made

May 5th 2009 2:55PM (Autoblog)
There are some really interesting elements on this car and visually it's very interesting when viewed from certain angles, but overall I'm not a fan. For a cool $2m there better be some more exotic mechanicals under the skin than just a ZR1!

REPORT: Source Interlink, parent co. of Motor Trend, Automobile, Hot Rod, files for Chapter 11

Apr 29th 2009 12:06PM (Autoblog)
Automobile has definitely come a long way from what they were a few years ago. Auto mags these days are getting pretty thin because of the lack of ad revenue directly impacts how many editorial pages they can have each issue. It's a vicious cycle: magazines with less content become less compelling as a retail purchase/subscription proposition which reduces sales which affects the dollars they can charge per ad per page which impacts the amount of editorial content in each issue and back around again.
I enjoy Kitman's column as well. I think he's at his best when he writes about older cars and stays away from the more political stuff. Fingers crossed that they survive the restructuring!
