@uniq Don't forget... near sourcing where the rest of the world outsources too... none of the transport costs of sending a finished product back across an ocean.
@Meekermoloko You forget... the iPhone had 0 apps for how long before there SDK came out? Android is still Linux and is still fragmented, so development is still at least a little more difficult... Visual Studio seriously makes it so dirt easy, and has the largest developer base (C#/Vb.Net) of any platform, making fart apps shouldn't be difficult.
@kyphem still watching commercials... and now paying them for the right... all so we can get it on the same devices netflix has been on (commercial free, with more content, and cheaper) for over a years... oh yippie...I'd be better with this if it didn't require the plus for the devices and upped the ads.
@savagemike I'm thinking MS will make it more like a listing service with some testing requirements (they do the testing, developer pays for it). Games for Windows isn't a bad store in any way, certainly no censorship or exclusivity issues.
@apeguero ya, but you paid for OSX with the hardware... Apple is a hardware (and now media company), MS is a software company.
Also Apple forces upgrades in hardware with software, at least in Win 7 they decreased the minium specs allowing it to install on pretty much anything that had WinXP SP2 pre-installed. Try loading that $159 OSX on a 10 year old mac...
... I'm not seeing 50 deep on this one. File systems suck, get used to it. No one has made a decent one that doesn't confuse grandma and lets programmers organize files in a coherent way... those two things are mutally exclusive. Most people need something in the middle, so MS and Apple put something in the middle.
