Apple execs admit to iPhone anxiety

Jun 4th 2007 8:05AM (Engadget)
The problem with the iPhone is there is no document reader and people can't download small programs into it like the palm or pocket pc. I guess they will be adding 3rd party apps later down the road but it will never meet the needs of the average palm or pocket pc user. I think they should have just made this the ipod video, I would replace my old ipod video for one like this, but don't need the phone and would never switch to Chingular/at&t.

There is also a different video on the marketplace you can download but I was not impressed, very cheesy and therefore when the song they sing gets stuck in your head you want it to quit.

Game developers debate Xbox achievements

Jun 1st 2007 11:33PM (Joystiq)
Achievements have good and bad about them.

The Good: I play through a whole game sometimes more than once, I do things I would never think to do in a game just to get an achievement making the game worth a lot more to me. Xbox Reward Challenges!!!

The Bad: Some of my online friends have turned into achievement whores and now to busy getting achievements on games they would never play otherwise leaving us high and dry alone playing online games without them. They say other friends are getting to close there gamerscore so they need to whore it up. I myself find I am focused more on getting an achievement then the story of the game I am playing and not enjoying the game as much as I should be. My wii does not get any game play since there is no achievements to get.

I do like the achievements but wish people would not focus so much on them that they forget about the people they use to play with. The only time I really get focused on achievements is when they have the challenges like the Old Spice one where I got Fusion Frenzy 2 and other stuff for getting 1500 gamerscore. That is worth it to me, getting more than just a high gamerscore, can't wait until the next challenge.

Modders' Xbox 360s banned from Live

May 19th 2007 9:04AM (Joystiq Xbox)
Another thing, I think for the backup problem of a legit disc, M$ should give a life time warranty on the disc so people won't have to worry about needing a backup or at least a cheap replacement program if scratched. That would hopefully cut down on the modders needing to backup there disc’s. I am sure that is not all there backing up though but if someone that has paid for many years and have grown tired of paying for their disc’s only to become unplayable due to a small scratch, they’re going to turn to modding.

Modders' Xbox 360s banned from Live

May 19th 2007 8:29AM (Joystiq Xbox)
Some people are a joke. Modding is an addiction people. Once you get a taste of a free game, you want more and more. You don’t care if it’s a good game or bad, you end up wanting them all. Then they say they will purchase Halo 3 due to its name and respect for BUNGiE but BUNGiE doesn’t need the modding community’s money as bad as the other developers do and the least money the other developers get the worst the games are going to get if any at all. You need to support all equally so there is an equal playing field. If every person where to mod there box then there would be no games to play, the developers would all go under. So support every game so they continue to put out games and hopefully the games will get better and better. I hope all the modders do end up going to the PofS3, M$ doesn’t need them. Hopefully the modders will ruin the PofS3 and legit people from the PofS3 come to the Xbox 360 and see how much better the games and online play are. Modders are modders, if you do it to get free games or to shoot Wraith blast from a pistol, you will all get banned, now or soon and you deserve every bit of it. Good move M$!

Shane Kim on Shadowrun's $10 PC to 360 price difference

May 14th 2007 8:31PM (Joystiq)
Another thing to add, if they are going to make a game cross-platform where you can play on the Xbox 360 or a PC and in the near future on handhelds and cell phones and whatever else they come up with, they need to make the game that you buy be able to work on all for one price. I don't want to have to purchase the same game on a each of platforms I want to play it on, that would get costly. For $60 buck, it better work on the PC as well as my Xbox 360!!!
