Don't give me the skill argument. There is not a single game that comes close to skill based gameplay than Halo CE and ShadowRun and both games have aim assist and magnetism- these are essential characteristics that make FPS work on a console comparable to those on the PC.
People do not like to splash shoot their guns, it's obnoxious when it takes an insane amount of steadiness to keep your reticle from going crazy on the screen. It's an inherent flaw in the thumbstick controls given in console gaming pads but that's the way it is and has been worked around long long ago.
When I play a FPS the two most prominent things to stick out are
1. Gameplay
2. Controls
Those are the two most important aspects of a FPS. Without good gameplay what do you have really? And without good controls how is it possible to execute good gameplay? Good controls with proper aiming mechanics is the backbone of FPS, or any shooter for that matter.
Killzone 2 pretty much fails at both these essentials. I don't see how killzone 3 will be any different if they aren't focusing on anything but LOOK WE GOT JETPACKS and 3-D!! woohoo
This company astonishes me with the kind of crap they get away with. First the Halo-killer tag, and then the CGI trailer of Kz2, and now 3-D????
Killzone 2 went backwards instead of forwards in simple design decisions such as controls and aiming. Things that were ironed out for console FPS almost a decade ago by other developers! WTF!?!??!
This franchise has yet to bring a single new or improved element to the genre. The first game was awful, and the second game had nothing more than really nice graphics. The game wasn't HAZE level of bad but it was close. It had one of the worst characters in the history of game stories (RICo) and overall bad dialogue.
The MP had some stupid design functionalities and pointless objective gametypes no one cared about. You add the fact that the game didn't meet the hype created by bandwagon jumpers and sony elite force fanboys with the less than expected sales, and dwindling online player number count and you have a big questoin to ask: Why is this franchise still hyped again?
KZ2 averages what? a thousand players a day? if even? Compare that to the big boys....
I care what journalists that have continuously proven they don't know squat about good FPS say? Yeah, reviews for Gears of War 2 were real fantastic despite glaring faults in the MP. Same with Killzone 2, some horrific controller design decisions, some really shotty MP functionalities and pretty much bland gameplay got some serious scores from "critics".

Blah. Killzone 2 was all aesthetics, the gameplay was mediocre at best. There seems to be nothing here to indicate the studio is changing anything about the core of the experience. It's another few "selling points" and nothing more.
I'm very confused... didn't Killzone 2 underperform a bit? I mean it was hyped beyond belief and only seemed to deliver on the graphics side of things. There's less than a 1000 people a day playing the game online now. Sometimes you can't even find a game to play online wtf? Compare that to other major franchises like COD, Gears, Left4dead, Halo, etc which pull in hundreds of thousands of players a day and you can grasp the major difference.
The same goes for MAG and Resistance. They are very minor franchises in the grand scheme of things.
