Holiday 2006 best bets for Mac gamers

Nov 27th 2006 4:32PM (Joystiq)
"Direct X is Windows (and Xbox 360) only; so efforts need to be made to adapt games to a different API."

That's where Transgaming's Cider comes in, guys.

Holiday 2006 best bets for Mac gamers

Hopefully, Aspyr, MacSoft, and MacPlay will be irrelevant once we can play Windows games on the Mac without having to dual boot. I have nothing against those companies, but since Macs and PCs have the same guts now and can both run Mac OS and Windows, what's the point of having separate development efforts for a game?

Obsidian patches Neverwinter Nights 2

@Bard, the patch allows you to put offhand items in the quickslot now. Not sure why they took that out in the first place. Glad to see they're listening to feedback and turning new builds around so quickly.

*sigh* more 'stiq bashing about the PS3. They're just reporting what's out there, Flit (and other trolls/PS3 fanboys). I just played the Wii yesterday too, and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Still get the sense that the Wii-mote is more of a diversion from gamepad-based games, rather than a replacement.

Well, Korea is home to NCsoft (Guild Wars, City of Heroes) and Webzen (Soul of the Ultimate Nation, Huxley), so they know a thing or two about online gaming.

Metareview - Warhammer: Mark of Chaos

@Lorben, that may be true, but people expect certain gameplay elements in an RTS. D&D has never been about base-building and resource gathering, but Dragonshard was somewhat successful in bringing those elements to the first D&D RTS.

Rise of the Witch-King box art revealed

I dont like the one that EA uses either. The Games for Windows banner is much better, but if MS is going to insist on an assload of reqs to be able to use it, we're likely to continue seeing the two different brandings. Stupid.

I vote that Tony Montana shoot DocWho in the balls.

I'll probably rent this one first, but it looks fun.

I'll be playing this with my brother in-law, and we'll probably use Spider-Man, Blade, The Thing, and Elektra. This game will have sick replay value, especially if the level designs are halfway decent. They were so-so for X-Men Legends.
