Destructible game, Fracture, announced for 2008

May 3rd 2007 12:36PM (Joystiq)
Jack of No Trades,

That would be correct. So what is your point? My point is that this method of game play could be gimmicky - with little or no logic behind it.

This future Earth obviously has the technology to terraform - so why didn't they use these grenades to seal or fill in the Mississippi river before all this shit started in the first place?

Goddammit this looks stupid.

Destructible game, Fracture, announced for 2008

Take away the gimmick of terrain deformation and what do you really have? Weapons that kill. Simple.

Whats wrong with using guns, lasers, and rockets to kill your opponents? Sounds like these "terraforming" grenades are an indirect approach to winning the battle.

Example:

"Traditional Wepons" = Bullet + Body = Kill
"Terraforming
Grenades" = 'Nade + Ground = Deformation = Kill

Simplicity is often the most creative and conceptually solid approach.

More Videos please. This really doesn't sell it for me.

I also think that the story line is weak with very little "solid" gound to stand on. Har Har

IGN's broken 360, cardboard coffin reviewed

Feb 3rd 2007 10:31PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I have spent roughly 1.5 - 2 hrs on the line for them to send a box to my address. In a nutshell I am very dissapointed with the service.

The main probem:
1st time I called I was on a cell. The reception cut out and was forced to go through the process again when I called back.

Turns out that the girl on the other side made an "OK" for the order to go through - AFTER my connecton was cut short via my cell phone.

I called back again and they told me to call back after 24 hrs so they could finish cancelling my order.

I felt as if I was talking to a machine the whole time. If you ever need to call this number be sure to ask them some questions they are NOT used to respnding back. You will be amused.

I have spent too much time dealing with them today. I am very dissapointed with their incompetence. I'm thinking about trading my broken box in for a new core at Gamestop. Then at least I can have a brand new console without have to deal with the bullshit and 2-3 week waiting time - only with a loss of 75 dollers.

Presenting some sweet Viva Piņata swag

For me the game is highly addicting. I bought Viva 2 days after Gears. It is quite difficult to pick a game to play at times because both are very good games

I will reccommend buy (yes buy, not rent) Viva if you like games like Sim City and Warcraft. Whats cool about it is that you evolve your garden from day one - no rebuilding towns like in Warcraft and that recent LOTR stratagy game.

A bit of a heads up:
The start of the game will be really gay because of the constant cut scene vids, tutorials, game talk, etc. - but stick with it and you'll be addicted within 1 hour.

(Shhh - I now wanna play Viva more often than Gears . . .

Gears of War: the sitcom?

I'm getting the same connection problems. I don't think that it is anything to worry about. However, when I host games I get virtually no connect errors - plus it streamlines the process of getting into battle a bit.

I think they did a wonderful job with the Lag - or lack of. I have a shity connection (256 up & down) and have zero lag like you find with Call of Duty 3 & Chromehounds.

As far as the A Button - Its works very well as far as gameplay - but I think the result of pressing A a seeing the result on screen is a bit choppy.

Oh well, who the fuck cares, its an awsome game!

Game Boy Advance around the world

It could be possible that the kid is photoshoped - but the shadow & light seem authentic.

Remember its not the kid that is taking the picture - his parent(s) are. I doubt this idea came from the kid.

Xbox France shows its advertising mojo

I totally agree with matthew. It's an awsome commerical. I'd like to see that kind of creativity here in the states for once. American commercials seem to be based off a handfull of basic motifs - just altered some from commercial to commercial.

Example: Remember the recent Old Navy ad (I think) that people are all hanging on to a very large balloon? Now there are several commercials on TV with that same motif/idea - i.e. stuff floating in the air.

Where's Sony's 'Major Nelson?'

My 1st post:

I discovered this site about a month ago - been reading it consistantly ever since. I have three opinions that I believe about the joystiq writers:

1) Pro XBOX360
2) Pro Wii
3) Anti PS3

I can't say that I disagree!
