While prices of games do come down over time, and it would not be uncommon for a deal similar to this to eventually be offered by a company, you do realize that the people who initially bought the game were still under their original 30 days of free time that came with the box when the game launched, right?
The game launched 2/2/2010, not 2/2/2008 or even 2/2/2009. That's 28 days ago.
I guess it needs to be asked? Is Cryptic and Atari so hard up for customers they have to make this much of a special offer this soon after launch?
The thing about Cryptic is this has been modus operandi with them for years. They were pulling the same types of shenanigans with patch notes on City of Heroes long before they got to Champions or Star Trek. Patch notes were frequently incomplete or non-existent, and patches would be on the Test Server long enough to find crippling bugs but not long enough to fix the crippling bugs before being pushed live.
On top of that, with their customers screaming for more content and bug fixes since the game launched in September, Cryptic finally ran into a torches and pitchforks crowd. Once again, they resort to sending in Jack Emmert to ask, "What is it you want?" Have they simply not been paying attention for the past 5 months?
I don't have it out for Cryptic, but I'm certainly glad I didn't fork over $200 for a lifetime subscription.
You don't find it the least bit hypocritical that gambling is okay in the United States as long as it's under the protective thumb of the government?
Basically what this means is:
Good gambling = government gets its cut! Bad gambling = government doesn't get its cut!
If our government was completely and utterly serious about protecting people from themselves and the evil, spooky dangers of gambling, then ALL forms of gambling in this country should be banned. This includes lotteries, scratch off tickets, Indian casinos, and Las Vegas should all be shut down.
As of this writing, the definition of "gambling" in relation to this bill may not necessarily apply to online poker. The next few months will be critical on this issue.
