Mario & Peach can't shake gender stereotypes

Nov 16th 2006 4:21PM (Joystiq)
Yeah, this sounds like conspiracy theorists going at it again. I seriously can't see why she thought the Mario analogy was something plausible, but the Princess one is at least a logical idea. But I still don't agree with it because with shit like this, you're damned if you do and damed if you don't. Ask her to make a game that is for younger players with Princess Peach in it, and I bet you it will include something that can be construed as sexist.

Shiggy Miyamoto celebrates 54 years of never growing up

Happy Birthday, Miyamoto-san! Cheers to the man that brought us Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, and Star Fox.

Nintendo's new Zelda falls flat

Nov 12th 2006 1:35AM (Joystiq)
Damn, the number of comments from this blog BLEW UP in less than an hour and a half. If you were going for sheer reaction when writing this blog, then you sure got it.

As for the "non-review," I just don't agree with it. Color choices are merely based on opinion. I honestly love the color choices; it makes it look very reminiscent to the Lord of the Rings. But again, it's all opinion. I like the fact that you added that part of a game into your blog, even though you make it sound like it was wrong for Nintendo to make it look like that.

The signpost thing seems a bit harsh though. It isn't based on graphical inferiority. It's merely what has been set in Zelda games. I'm sure that the system is capable of doing it. It's just style and tradition.

And when you say you should compare Wii games to past generation systems is a bit off. It can only compared to them when considering graphics. Anything else will have no relevance.

But you put such a bad tone to this article especially the article. I'm pretty sure that the game has far more positives than negatives, but you made these negatives sound like they were the worst things to happen in gaming. It sounds like you were planning on having a Pro/Con blog with another blogger, but you came out with some bad choices.

Overall, you are definitely going to get some flack from this one. If it was intentional, you got some balls. If not, ouch.

One question: are the graphics good for a GameCube game? If so, then that's fine by me.

$1.75 million game

Nov 12th 2006 12:00AM (Joystiq)
I love how the guy puts the thing on the floor when taking its picture. Yeah, it's definitely in the right hands. Especially when asking for the low-low price of 1.75 million dollars. Douchebagaroo.

PS3s final eBay price

Nov 5th 2006 6:54PM (Joystiq)
Wouldn't it be funny ,if for some reason, no one cared about the PS3 after it launched? I'd laugh in the face of every eBay seller, because I just don't agree with it. Going through some of your comments, I saw a few that actually bought more than one PS3's, just so they could sell it on eBay. I call foul.

But anyway, once Christmas rolls around, the average will probably be around $2000.

Oh, and I can't wait to see GameStop's Uber-Omega Chimera Caduceus Bundle that goes for the same price as a slightly used Cessna.

Legend of Zelda video retrospective (part 4)

Nov 4th 2006 12:05PM (Joystiq)
I was actually unaware that the GB Color games, Ages and Seasons, were originally planned to be remakes of the first 2 Zelda NES games. That would have been interesting to see, but still like that they created 2 new games instead. Maybe they should revisit that idea, like how they did Metroid: Zero Mission.

Circuit City Final Fantasy XII $37.99 -- for real

Oct 29th 2006 5:19PM (Joystiq)
I've seen this thing happen a few times in the past. Either Best Buy or Circuit City will reduce the price of a game or movie the first week it's out to spur larger demand at their stores. I even remember a Best Buy in Utica, NY selling GTA: Vice City for $40 the day it was released. Now that's surprising.

Download Vista RC2 now

Oct 9th 2006 10:16PM (Joystiq)
Gosh darn it, I just got RC1 installed on my computer yesterday! Damn you Msoft. I will say that RC1 is loads better than Beta 2. All my hardware drivers actually work now. And I have not seen any major problems with RC1 as of now. It's working wonderfully on my PC, and I've totally changed my viewpoint on upgrading my OS. I'm actually using it now with FireFox 2 to write this comment. I haven't really tried running any games on it because of the complete lack of drivers/patches, so I can't say anything about that. And something tells me that, with around 50% of my 1GB RAM being used just to run Vista by itself (with a few gadgets running), playing games is going to need a minimum of 2GB to run fine. So, if you want Vista for the exclusive games, be prepared to spend mucho dinero on hardware upgrades.
