Rage 'The Dawn' trailer breaks over the horizon

Jul 10th 2011 11:08PM (Joystiq)
@Shadowbender

Oh yeah! Totally forgot about Skyrim and Skyward Sword. Although they're a bit off my radar as far as 'must-haves' for me, but I'm still pretty stoked about both of them.

Plus Dead Island does look like fun and despite all the negative press around NFS: The Run, I think it looks intriguing, if not exciting.

Rage 'The Dawn' trailer breaks over the horizon

Jul 10th 2011 10:25PM (Joystiq)
Between this game looking better and better with each trailer, and Deus Ex AND Batman: AC coming up soon AND then Uncharted 3 and AC: Revelations a little under a month after that, my wallet is going to feel the pain.

It's going to be tough handing out Game of the Year awards come January.

And that doesn't even include Battlefield 3.

Need for Speed: The Run preview: Action distraction

Jun 8th 2011 3:16PM (Joystiq)
@MLC

I think it sounds like it's going to be fun cinematic experience. They've already had two NFS games released in the past year, so I don't mind a different take on the genre.

I think the preview is missing the point of the game - it's not strictly a racing game and hopefully it will be a much better experience for it. I'm keeping an eye on this one.

Carmageddon site registered to Square Enix updated with countdown

That would be awesome if they do bring it back. And while this whole old-school driving genre is getting a revival, can we see Quarantine and Interstate '76 make a comeback please??

Prey 2 preview: Alien sequel

Apr 18th 2011 1:29PM (Joystiq)
@zamardii12 But it is set in the same universe and apparently you'll see Tommy from the original at some point - so it does expand the story of the series, just from a different perspective. Maybe the developers thought Tommy's story was finished (it truly was if you finished the game) and felt that they've done all they could creatively - with the story and with the portal/gravity tech - so why not venture into different territory?

I'll admit Prey 2 is misleading, maybe calling it Prey: with a subtitle would be better, but people are getting way too upset about this topic that their rage is blinding to the fact that the game looks cool and unique.

Prey 2 preview: Alien sequel

Apr 18th 2011 10:41AM (Joystiq)
At first I was skeptical about this when I first heard it announced, but now I'm definitely keeping an eye on this one. An open world, alien noire story-driven shooter certainly seems as ambitious a design choice as the first Prey.

Everybody's asking why call it Prey 2? Who cares - if the developer wants to expand that universe in a totally different way, more power to them. Besides, if they just made a direct sequel with all those same quirky elements, most people would probably say "Pfff, I played this game five years ago, why do I need to play it again?"

Pitchford: Duke Nukem Forever demo an 'important thing to do'

Sep 6th 2010 9:57PM (Joystiq)
@(Unverified)
Umm, seriously I spent more time playing Duke Nukem 3d Multiplayer than Doom, Warcraft 2 and Red Alert combined. It was the most fun I've ever had. Plus, it was extremely popular and gave that game legs long after Quake arrived. So, please just shut up because you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

Pilotwings Resort flying to 3DS

Jun 15th 2010 2:10PM (Joystiq)
I'm not too hyped on the 3DS, but the lineup is looking more stellar with each announcement. I hope they'll have demo unit available at retailers soon so you can get the full experience.

Blockbuster details new Games By Mail rental system

Apr 11th 2010 9:22PM (Joystiq)
As a current employee working for one the stores that is closing, I can say that Blockbuster is trying their hardest to fight for survival. Blockbuster won't be going anywhere soon - there are still a healthy amount of stores actually making money - it's just a matter of weeding out the underperforming stores.

Don't count them out, along with this online game service, they're introducing at select stores the ability to rent games that aren't in the store. If they're available at the nearest distribution center, you can order it in the store and have it mailed to you. And they re-introduced late fees, something that might actually bring in revenue.

And on top of that, Blockbuster is getting most studio releases 28 in advance of Netflix and Redbox. That's a huge deal, most studios do not want to see BB fail. They may be late to the game, but they're still fighting!

Nomura mentions three more Kingdom Hearts games in interview

Mar 26th 2010 11:16AM (Joystiq)
While I found the story and the game from the first Kingdom Hearts to be fantastic, I recently finished the second (I know, long time coming!) and it's pretty bad. I thought the story was absolutely convoluted, messy and too big for its own good. The RPG elements were watered down to make way for an easier trip through the worlds, but it ended up being a straight up action game - I really didn't bother with upgrading or anything.

So KH3 will definitely not be on my must watch list - I don't think I could take anymore whining from Sora and pseudo-love stories.
