@WiredKnight : Twilight Princess in 1080p on the Dolphin Emulator comes pretty darn close. Anyone whom has seen it or played it that ay can attest to that. We won't see a 100% HD Zelda until the Wii U.
@Shady3011 : Killer Instinct III will never be made under the Rare banner. EVERYONE from Rare that worked on those games has quit or has been fired. The only chance KI3 ever has of being made is if the rights get sold back to Nintendo and Retro Studios (the new Rare) does it.
@Co : Agreed. I find those people beyond humerous. Kinect is okay for what it is. I think it's a little too ambitious. Motion-controls WITH a controller haven't even been perfected yet. Much less motion controls without a controller. I personally this Kinect could have waited until 720. Especially since motion-control gaming in general is not the craze it was a few years ago.
They should have waited til 720, perfected the technology to the point that all games have true 1-to-1 ratio, and then released it.
Nintendo made a mistake in a bad economic climate. SO, WHAT. Virtual Boy failure and lack of success with the N64 cost Nintendo millions in the 1990's. Nobody noticed because the economy was much better back then. In today's climate the margin for error is virtually nonexistent and pricing the 3DS at $249 was a HUGE mistake.
All they could do is rectify that error and move on, which they did. It would be foolish to say that Nintendo is in uncharted territory and they really have to bring-it with the Wii U, but all this gloom and doom is absurdly immature.
People act as if they want Nintendo to go out of business. If that happens, kiss console gaming in general goodbye.
@Faceless Troll : Yeah really. That comment was way off base. As far as another Killer Instinct game happening, forget guys. It's not going to happen. Everyone that worked on Killer Instinct no longer works for Rare. Since Killer Instinct is an intellectual property of Rare, Microsoft cannot force Rare to make it. Peter Moore has gone on record to say that when he was still with Microsoft both he and Ken Lobb tried hard to convince Rare to make another installment, but they refused.
At this point the only way I would like to see an attempt to be made of another Killer Instinct is if Rare sold the rights of KI back to Nintendo. Then they could have Retro Studios (which for all intents and purposes is the new Rare) to make another Killer Instinct game. Here is a cool video made in Adobe After Effects by alphalink on what an intro to Killer Instinct 3 'could' look like.
@Dhexodus : Yeah. I guess I wouldn't have much faith in a company that took a machine completely inferior in power and capabilities and dominated two companies at once to the point that the Wii has sold 87 million units worldwide to the 360's 57 million units and PS3's 51 million units.
I guess we should have faith in a company that has 5 of the 10 best-selling consoles of all time. I guess it is atrocious that the Wii, DS, Game Boy, and even NES have singularly all sold more units than the almighty 360 and unstoppable PS3.
The fact that Nintendo had been the most successful company in the industry for over 40 years, nothing to shout about. The fact that Nintendo was the first to introduce or perfect many of the aspects of game-play we take for granted such as (rumble, analog, FPS, arcade sticks, multiplayer, light guns, memory expansion, 3D, motion controls, etc, not at ALL a big deal.
Obviously I am being facetious, but the point is that Nintendo has proven that they have no need for your faith into their consoles to be successful.
People just like YOU said that the NES would fail. That after Atari's meltdown in the early 80's that console gaming was dead. The NES sold 61 million consoles and totally revamped console gaming. People just like YOU said that the SEGA Genesis would beat the SNES, and yet the SNES game from behind to surpass the Genesis in sales. People just like YOU said that because of the mistakes made by Nintendo with the N64 that they were all done. They probably should have been done. However, not only were they NOT done but used the N64 to introduce gamers to aspects of game-play that are common place today. Such as analog sticks, multiplayer games, and first-person shooters. Before the N64 the FPS crowd was limited to those whom owned a decent-PC with games like DOOM, Wolfenstein 3D, Quake, and Unreal Tournament. It wasn't until a little game known as GoldenEye007 that FPS games became popular on consoles.
People like YOU said that the PSP would pwn the DS, however the DS (147 million) has sold twice as many units as the PSP (72 million). And of course people like YOU said that the Wii was a ridiculous idea by Nintendo and that it would be the death-nail of the company and as I prove earlier it has been the exact opposite.
So enclosing I would like to say that is it one thing to say, "I'm not sure about the Wii U." That is a fair criticism to make. Nintendo gave us next to nothing in terms of hard facts on the Wii U at E3 this year, and haven't said much since. That type of sentiment I can understand. What I find absurd are comments such as "Console-wise, I have no faith in Nintendo." Really? C'mon. Do people actually have the ability to think for themselves anymore, or is it automatic that whenever someone makes a negative remark that the Troll Jamboree breaks out with 20 one-liners talking about how they hate something or how it will fail? You want to know what I have no faith in? Based-on comments like these, this young generation. Comments like these tell me that people lack intelligence, they lack research-skills or the drive to investigate the facts before making exclamations, or that they lack any positivity at all.
@badkins1102 : That is incorrect. It already has been confirmed 'from developers' (which is the only opinion that matters at the moment) that the Wii U is at LEAST 50% more powerful than the current systems. I don't know why people get hard-ons from trying to dumb down the power of the Wii U.
Anyway, the problem is that developers are being forced to actually do something creative for a change instead of just giving us virtually the same FPS experience we have played since 1996 with newer HD skins on them. Companies didn't even start taking motion-controls seriously until the PS Move and Kinect came out. That was only a year ago.
Nintendo forces companies to think outside the box. The general consensus from developers right now is that the Wii U is a powerful system, it is easy to develop for, but we cannot think of what to do with this controller.
I expect the first-run of Nintendo-made and 1st-Party Wii-U titles to be amazing and first-run third-party games to look great but be lacking in Wii-U Pad features. Once developers see what Nintendo can do with the Wii-U Pad, THEN the light bulb will go off and the virtual 'AHA!' moment will take place. Then you'll start to see games from third-party developers start to take off.
I won't be surprised if the NEXT BOX comes out within the next 2 years. However, the 360 is still doing quite well right now and if they come out with the NEXT BOX too soon they could be cutting their nose off to spite their face.
One of the things I keep hearing about the Wii U is how easy it is to work with the dev-kits. If the NEXT BOX is as powerful as rumors claim it to be then I hope for their sake that it also is easy to develop for.
