UK raid uncovers DS carts loaded with $12K of pirated software

Apr 12th 2008 12:23AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
That particular £6000? I don't know, it probably went towards the Mercedes. I know that the £60 a week I save by pirating PC games gives me my weekend weed baggie and a couple of Es for when I go clubbing. The PS2 modchip, now that beautiful thing provided the seed capital for my first business and my first million (age 24, hell yes). I guess you could say the hacked PSP covers my losses in the casino, which have been pretty hefty lately, but totally worth it - I can't get enough of the high-roller girls you get in there!
I've had my eye on a jetski, anyone recommend a good 360 modchip?

Rumor: GameStop increasing pre-order to $10, changing image

@Kurzon

You don't really appreciate the scale of their business. They made $21 million profit on $1.3 billion in sales last quarter. Which, incidentally, also means they aren't ripping you off if their net profit is only 1.5% (unless mis-management is pissing the money away).

A company which makes $7 million a month doesn't have to pester its customers in the hope of making a few tens of thousands a month in interest! This meme is ridiculous and needs to die.

PC Gamer lures PS3 buyer with $7500 gaming rig

Nov 17th 2006 1:45PM (Joystiq)
How did they manage to spend $7500 on a PC? It's not even SLI!

Newegg says that's a $700 graphics card, and maybe they went with the $1000 processor. A 32-inch LCD screen is $1500. That leaves over $4300 for RAM, HD, case and peripherals... maybe it comes with a laser printer or something. Anyone got the spec?

Don't bother tonight, see Gamestop's Gears video here

Surprisingly dull... I guess it's more fun when you're playing.

Plus, I hated the way that the game is all about cover yet every time Marcus goes through a door he's just walking, the camera is straight ahead and doesn't check out the sides for an ambush. I hope it's because the guy playing knew where the enemies were coming from and not a lack of camera control.

Yeah, I think after that I'm more excited by the multiplayer. If it's half as good as UT2004 it'll be the best multiplayer game this year.

EA charging gamers to access unlockable content

Oct 17th 2006 10:22AM (Joystiq)
It pisses me off that games lock stuff anyway. It's OK for a linear, story-type game to have a locked-down level progression but for anything else it's just annoying. If I enjoy playing the game you don't have to "incentivize" it with unlocks... and if I don't enjoy it then maybe you should let me play the best bits.

Now this little tactic ensures that everything is going to be locked down in games. Great. I can't wait till when I start a new game the only menu option is "buy rest of menu".

Gamer auctioning XBL gamertag for PS3 [update 1]

Oct 9th 2006 2:08PM (Joystiq)
You know what's funniest. Current bid is $5200 (not $6000...) and that doesn't even meet the reserve!
That guy is cool. When offered five grand for nothing he holds out for more.

Ubisoft hopes to "beat EA" starting with Wii

Oct 6th 2006 12:34PM (Joystiq)
It's got to be said, half the stuff Ubi is putting out on Wii is ported EA-level crap. Monster 4x4, Open Season, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Blazing Angels is supposed to be pretty weak too. I don't think they're going for quality.
