Waiting until the 25th for mine. Damn international release date!

BlackHole RAT Mac OS X backdoor Trojan virus mimics password prompt

Feb 28th 2011 4:07PM (Download Squad)
Been using Sophos for Mac ever since it was first released. Can't really complain about it to be honest since it has a low memory footprint, updates automatically and doesn't hog the CPU's time. Feature-wise it's pretty basic, but it's nice to know that I have protection in place just in case something (fingers crossed) infects my Mac. It's quite useful if you're running Parallels or similar seeing as it scans for Windows as well as Mac malware. Can't complain about the price of free either.

Final Firefox 4 beta released, add-ons still languishing

Glad to see "increased stability and performance when viewing Flash content" is one of the things fixed in this release. Flash in FF4b11 on my MacBook Air turned it into an egg cooker.

Angry Farm is an Angry Birds knockoff for BlackBerry

I find it downright reprehensible when people flagrantly plagiarise others' work and then attempt to make money out of it. I hope Rovio and co. are ready to take action.

Apple beats Kindle for e-books in the UK

Feb 18th 2011 7:14PM (TUAW.com)
Doesn't surprise me much to be honest. Anecdotally, I see a lot more people in this country with iPads/iPhones/iPods reading than with Kindle alone. On the tube and trains the iPhone is most prevalent in this context, since it's is convenient to use a device you already have in your pocket than to have a dedicated e-reader.

Apple issues survey to MacBook Air owners, mentions 3G

All it needs is Sandy Bridge ULV's (when they're available), and a backlit keyboard and I would be happy.

Since tethering is 100% free on my Three plan, I just tether if I desperately need on-the-go web access.

SeaMonkey 2.1 beta 2 introduces Sync, DoNotTrack, Personas and more

Feb 15th 2011 11:43AM (Download Squad)
My only complaint about a stock SeaMonkey install is that it doesn't have a bit more eye candy like it's Firefox and Thunderbird brethren (relatively speaking). Other than that, it does everything rather capably.

Microsoft removes Autorun from Windows Vista, XP, 2000

Feb 9th 2011 11:08AM (Download Squad)
@Sebastian Anthony - lol, it's actually a pretty big internet meme

Anyway, yays for the removal. It caused so much annoyance to me in the past. AutoPlay is all you need.

Camino open source OS X web browser reaches 2.1 Alpha 1

Jan 20th 2011 6:33PM (Download Squad)
I want to like Camino, but every time I use it it just feels like there is something missing. It seems like a bit of side-project to be honest as well, what with older versions of Gecko in use.
