Review: Poker Night at the Inventory

Your statement about all the unlocks being reskins of default weapons is wrong - the Heavy has a minigun reskin, and Max has a pistol (previously available for preorderering Sam & Max season 3 on Steam) as well as the badge, but Tycho has a reskinned spy watch, and Strong Bad has purely cosmetic glasses for the Demoman.

Steam starts THQ sales week with Red Faction game discounts

"Red Faction Guerrilla, is priced today only at a mere $4.99"
Unless you're in Australia. We're SO SPECIAL, we get to pay $17.49!

And in news surprising no one, in Australia it's 50% more expensive ($89.99).

Australian cops get social too - serve intervention order through Facebook

Oct 19th 2010 9:23PM (Download Squad)
I'm Australian (unfortunately) and I have to wonder if it's completely legit here - I will admit I'm far from an expert in the law, but as far as I understand it when you serve this sort of thing you have to make sure the intended recipient gets it and understands what it means - and since there's no way to ensure that the guy even watches the video, I don't see how it's legal.

Of course, if I was the guy, even if I did see the video, I'd still argue the point if the case ever went to court.

PayPal rushes in to save Android Market

Aug 18th 2010 8:58AM (Download Squad)
Not sure if this would help app sellers. It'd be nice, though. Not that I publish apps on the market. I'd like to. But my part of the world doesn't fall into the even shorter list of countries from which developers can sell paid apps (http://market.android.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=150324). Yes, Australia. Home of banned games, high prices, low download speeds (at high prices... I get 50GB of downloads (and uploads combined) for AU$60/month, at 1.5mbps... the less said about the AU$2/MB data on my phone, the better... but all that's a rant for another day), and people who'd like to sell Android apps but can't.

I'd consider making free apps, but being an unemployed student, I really can't justify the cost of registering as an Android developer without being able to make any money out of it.

Still... I'd much rather do that than develop for iPhone... higher fees, and only having a PC and no money kind of makes it a rather impossible prospect.

Verizon switching to AT&T-style limited data plans later this month?

Jul 20th 2010 9:03PM (Engadget)
@Plazmic Flame
You think you have it bad? I pay AU$2 (roughly US$1.75) PER MEGABYTE for data on my phone... charged by the kilobyte. Australia sucks. Mobile data is ridiculously expensive, and with the biggest ISP here, AU$70 will get you 12GB of data (at 1.5mbit ADSL1 speed, ADSL2 will cost you more), and any good games get banned.

So will all you people please stop complaining? You DO NOT have it as bad as we do.

Rock Band 3 going pro October 26, pre-order bonuses announced

Jul 19th 2010 8:57PM (Joystiq)
What I want to know: will it come out in Australia? I had to import RB2 (it hasn't come out here yet and probably never will), but I want the keyboard (and I'd really like the Squier), but that's going to be expensive enough without paying to get it shipped overseas.
