Steam continues MMO sale pricing with $2.00 EVE Online

Jun 27th 2010 8:44PM (Massively)
Nope, I knew him well, he had been playing the whole time. It was a friendly engagement, and we both decided to play the same ships. I was just specced in that particular ship type and he was kind of mediocre.

Granted people surely quit and then return, that just wasn't the case this time. He was simply not quite as good as me in one particular area of the game (he was predominately a miner for a while, so his combat skills weren't that great).

I've been beaten by toons younger than me too, because they're simply better.

It's all about specialization and skill. Having a good fitting is a big part of it too.

That's why I (a one year old toon, with only 7 months of training time), killed a three year old toon?

Specialization and skill play a huge part in the game.

WRUP: All work and no play...

Oh yeah, I know, I put in my time :P There's just nothing else right now. Fallen Earth and EVE are both awesome, but I always find myself looking for a more laid back game. One where I can die and say "So what" and just keep going. A very casual MMORPG, but still one with some depth. Any ideas on that front?

Well, I got my beta code for Medal of Honor and I've been enjoying that multiplayer beta. Then probably some Fallen Earth or Battlefield: Bad Company 2, along with jumping on EVE to start finishing up the tail end of my skills for large railgun II's (:D), considering reinstalling Battlefield 2 and resubbing to WoW too... Time will tell.

By adventuring I mean like, exploring. You know, an open world bit. LOTRO as to Guild Wars. I would much prefer instances for dungeons and what not, of course.

Oh yeah, for raids and instances, of course there will be bigger numbers, and 4 or 5 are great for an instance.

But they said they will push ADVENTURING with smaller groups. My big issue is that. They said that the adventuring will be pushed with those 4 or 5 person groups, I got that as Guild Wars like stuff.

So they promote grouping and adventuring with 4 to 5 people. So.... Guild Wars?

There is in fact friendly fire... in your group. I've killed plenty of teammates with a stray nade or car explosion... or emptying a clip into their face...

The 100 people are NOT spread across all the districts. It handles 100 per INSTANCE, inside a single district. Essentially, 100 players to a map. I have been in a couple full districts and it gets chaotic, although it can only go to 4v4 matches. I'm thinking they'll work on making it bigger.

The Daily Grind: How much would you pay to keep your character?

Jun 13th 2010 9:52AM (Massively)
A month's fee to reactivate my game account, but not my character. Any MMO company worth a penny knows there's a golden rules in existence:

"Never delete a player's character."

If you go and delete something I put 100 hours on, there's no way I'm coming. Nor will I buy any game that company releases or of a lack of trust for 'my' data (I know it's not REALLY mine, they own my character yadda, yadda, but I put in the work :P).
