As long as a reviewer isn't biased right out of the gate then I don't see the problem. An open mind is needed for a fair review. It should be based upon how well a game works on the system reviewed without the graphics being compared to the PS3 or 360. While it is unlikely that soccer moms read the review of a game before giving it to their children, I still believe that there is a place for the critics regardless. Bias is pretty transparent and turns people off so if the critic feels like he has alot to lose he wouldn't write a review that ignites a flame war. There have been lots of games that I liked that got low review scores simply because the gameplay was considered dated and not "the thing" when they came out and I am sure the critics didn't help sales whatsoever but predatory game developers who create feces shouldn't be allowed to sell crap as far as I'm concerned.
If they are going to make it a two-halved system they could at least make a clamshell design like the DS to keep the screen from getting scratched to hell by loose change and keys jingling around in people's pockets. That isn't copying off of the DS. That is practicality at work. If they included a carrying case then I might have a different opinion but the design is butt ugly anyways so I don't think you could do anything to make it look any worse.
Blood was an awesome game. I've spent many hours on that game. I loved blowing up the zombies and kicking their decapitated heads down the hallway like a soccer ball.
If it were a Wii Metal Gear Solid I would pidle myself out of excitement. Let's not forget that Kojima supposedly had a Wii project in the works and that he still has to pay Nintendo back for puttin Solid Snake in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Lets hope that he keeps Solid Snake on duty. He loves to screw with his fan's heads. Just look at MGS 2 for proof. I hope that it is a spin-off of Solid Snake's story in MGS2. I don't know if they could make it too interesting though. How about the story about a story about Snake's origins. He sounds like he had a mighty interesting life but maybe it his background is supposed to be mysterious to keep the whole troubled badass thing going on. What I really want is a game with Solid Snake viewed in a light that is much more personal than the whole test tube baby that was only created to kick ass. Snake is a character that is successfully portrayed as real person. Build on that, don't throw it away for it is much too rare.
I think that this game will have a major emphasis on weather. Maybe it is the next Metal Gear Solid with weather being a major element getting in the way of survival. Better than eating frogs and whipping out the first aid kit.
Does anybody remember this game? I've been playing it on my PC for quite a while today and it's a blast. I never heard of it but it brings back good memories of the old school side-scrolling Duke Nukems from back in the day.
