Murloc bento box looks strangely tasty
Dec 23rd 2008 8:36AM (WoW)Great job! You just proved who is the smarter, wiser, and all around better person just with that one sentence!
*golf clap*
Murloc bento box looks strangely tasty
Dec 23rd 2008 8:34AM (WoW)You have NO idea. Bento can take a ridiculous amount of time, especially when it's artistic like this. There are women in Japan who will get up hours and hours before their children go to school just to make sure their children have an absolutely adorable bento box because in the younger years (elementary age), it's seen as sort of a cultural must have to have cute bento.
In the case of this bento chef/artist, I would bet that she (or he) spent even more time since this was probably for artistic purposes, primarily. If it's a "work in progress", I would bet that he/she is going to recreate this bento at a later time and then try to add the teeth.
I could be completely wrong, but being a bento enthusiast myself, that's the way I'd do it so as not to spoil the food :)

Dec 23rd 2008 8:24AM (Joystiq Nintendo)If there was a recall, I never heard about it. It sounds to me like the insurance company is just pissed they had to do their job and actually pay out.
UK police bust pirate, confiscate plenty of goods [update]
Dec 20th 2008 3:16PM (Joystiq Nintendo)This was my exact thoughts on the matter. Flash cart =/= Piracy.
As far as I'm concerned, I don't say someone's a pirate until I see an R4 in their console with a copy of New Super Mario Bros. or something else that is not a home brew software.

Dec 16th 2008 6:25PM (WoW)No, it's a matter of being grateful for the fact that we don't have to go farm the mats ourselves. But maybe we're just weird like that.
And it has nothing to do with moral high ground. It's called human decency. Sorry that you don't understand the difference.
I don't think I'm somehow superior to Blacksmith, but I sure as hell think he's in the wrong and he needs to learn a two or thing about how to treat other people.
And, for that matter, you could learn a thing or two about being polite as well. I didn't say anything to or about you, and here you are running your mouth and being rude when replying.
You're not doing yourself or your opinion any favors.
FCC Comissioner: World of Warcraft causes college dropouts
Dec 16th 2008 11:42AM (WoW)Video games are only addictive if you LET them be. When I started my freshman year of college, I sat down with my family (who all play WoW as well) and asked them to let me know if they thought I was playing too much when I should be studying, or staying up too late when I needed more rest, whatever.
Guess what? They never had to, even once. Because *gasp* I took responsibility for MY OWN ACTIONS and made a decision to do what was best for my life.
Anybody who wants to blame WoW for college dropouts is a complete and total idiot, because at the end of the day, we all CHOOSE to play the game. It's not an addiction, it's a choice.
If we want to blame something for college drop outs, let's look at a failing economy where people can't afford to keep food on the table, let alone go to school. Or where a young woman who is working 60 hours a week, plus going to college full time, and is pregnant, can't get medicaid unless she drops out of college, but an unemployed, able-bodied loser who sits at home eating cheetos can get food stamps, medicaid, and supplementary income for doing nothing but sitting on his arse.
We want to blame someone for drop outs? Let's blame the system giving these kids NO choice instead of a game that IS a choice in and of itself.
You know you play too much WoW if...
Dec 16th 2008 10:52AM (WoW)But I have one to add to the list:
My brother runs by my desk, steals various things from me (snacks, drinks, whatever), and both of us will simultaneously scream "NINJA!"
This was so prominent that at my costume-party-wedding, my brother (who was a member of the bridal party) was a Ninja, lol.

Dec 16th 2008 10:47AM (WoW)Treating people well > "videogame money lolz"
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, a THOUSAND MILLION TIMES: THANK YOU!
I'm so tired of people saying this is about video game money or calling the poor guy who got screwed a jerk. It makes me sick to my stomach and it reminds me why I keep going back to EverQuest II over WoW:
Because at least there, people realize that there are OTHER PEOPLE behind the freakin' monitors!
If I'd been Blacksmith, every bit of that gold would have went back where it belonged: To the customer. Especially since the guy got a skillup!
My cousin pays people 50g per skillup when using their mats in his enchanting, in my Engineering, depending on how much of my mats are being used (because usually no one has mats for me), I'll take a percentage of the cost off if I get a skillup.
I'm sorry but dude got a free skillup that cost him only his "precious hearthstone" (BAH!), and had the audacity to take the money anyways!?
I don't know about elsewhere, but on my server, I get A LOT more business because people know I go out of my way to help people, whether it be with being a Warrior, a Miner, or an Engineer. I've tried extremely hard to "do unto others" and do the best job I could to treat people in this game like I treat people in real life, because you know what?
That grey area between reality and the internet is almost non-existent anymore. And even if it were still there, I've always known that the person behind that monitor could be having the worst day of their life. Perhaps a family member died, or a pet, or they lost their job, or they've just had a really bad day and want to blow off steam on WoW. Regardless, they are people to.
That is what this boils down to. Not gold. Not time.
Decent human behavior.
