@real65rcncom I respect your opinion but I disagree with you on the subject of armor in RIFT. It's the most realistic armor I have seen in an MMO and is incredibly detailed. With their system of dyes you can really get some outstanding pieces. Now if you are a fan of WOW supersized shoulder pads with lava rolling off the the sleeves, I understand, RIFT has a very different style. If you scroll in on RIFT armor you can see every stitch. To me that is a good thing not a bad thing.
Things must vary wildly from shard to shard. I happen to play on 2 shards and the 42-50 lvl range is filled on both of them. The same is true when I play my lower level alts. There are plenty of people to group with. Your mileage may vary but I find that as it increases in level the zones are more interesting and more attractive to play through.
I'm looking forward to the event and will enjoy seeing how it plays out. The nerf bat isn't a concern for me. But it's good to see that they are going to offer some explanation to those caught up in the debate.
I've been enjoying my time in RIft and find the care and attention that they put into the game to be fun. I am abit of an in game explorer and just the other day found all kinds of rewards/goodness deep in the dark vastness of the ocean while virtually swimming off the map. That kind of attention to detail is just plain fun.
Excuse me but I am abit confused, how exactly do you steal a kill or ninja during a rift? The mobs are open to everyone and the loot is awarded based on participation. I gotta be missing something.
I logged on within 2 minutes after the shards came up and unfortunately the one I had planned on joining had a 3 hour Q. So I switched to another shard I heard one of the major guilds was going to... and it had a 10 hour Q. Fortunately there was one shard left that wasn't full and I got in it immediately. I made my toon and then logged out to head back to work (it was my lunchbreak). When I tried to log back in that evening there was a 45 minute Q that somehow continued to get longer and longer... about an hour later I finally got in. Despite that headache I had a great time. The shard was completely stable. I had no lag or performance issues even though I had the settings maxed out (granted my computer is a beast). The rifts were pretty amusing with all the firepower we had. Fighting for quest mobs was made easier by grouping up. I played to lvl 12 and then called it a night. Logged in today at lunch and there was no Q at all. All in all I would call it a success!
I left WOW two years ago as well. I had no intention to go back. A friend of mine was begging me to resub and help him level a new toon. I figured, what the hell, let's see how they did.
As a WOW hater.... I have to say, damn I love what they did with the goblin starting area. I won't be putting WOW down for awhile. I have to admit, I'm impressed with that they came up with.
Having said that, I will be dropping it when GW2 comes out.
