Grandpa Aaron loves Bioshock, can't wait to see you for Thanksgiving

Nov 7th 2011 10:33AM (Joystiq)
@Apakal Well that's a nice way to view all men who grew up in the 40's and 50's.

How about getting beat by father after a few too many at the pub, nuns reminding that your mother's depression and your father's hair color equate to you being the anti-christ, playing stick ball for six hours a day instead of trying to learn shit, dropping out of highschool to work with your pederast Uncle Bill installing dy wall, knocking up a girl in the back of Uncle Bill's Chevy, pretending to love said girl and marrying her so her parents don't send her to "the clinic," spending all non-dry-wall time drinking away your twenties and telling your wife to make you a sandwich, missing your child's birth because of double-header baseball at the ole ballpark, belting your wife's cheek when she asks if she can go to work like all her friends, belting your kids cheek when he asks anything, drinking while driving, drinking while working, drinking while getting a physical, creepily staring at girls your child goes to school with, always reminding people that your old, always reminding people received a degree from "the school of hard-knocks," always reminding people you were good baseball until "I had to stop for the wife," chain smoking while child does homework, chain smoking while your wife gives birth to another child, chain smoking while an 19 year-old homeless girl blows you for $12 outside a deli, forgetting your children's birthdays, forgetting your wife exists, still putting up dry wall at the age of 50, demanding roast beef for dinner every single night, ranting about "the darkies" lowering your home's property value, ranting about anything, spending all your money at the beer distributer, constantly telling your children that college is overrated, shitting in your pants, watching sports with the volume too loud, not remembering anyone's name, sending back anything anyone orders you at a restaurant, burdening your grandchildren with stories that aren't even true, getting lost easily, claiming music died with Buddy Holly, claiming anything, doing that thing cat's do to clear a hairball, not dying.

As you can see, some grand-parents are different than others.

@runastun564 I am an Android person, and I actually agree. I am annoyed as well. For this all this talk of openness, the Market pulled the apps. I xoxo Google stand on a lot of things, and despise Apple's stand on a lot of things, but the ole Goog has been letting me down man. The China thing bugged me, and I get why they cave so easily here, but it shows that at their core, Apple and Google aren't so different. The iOs Android wars are just silly at this point.

@Aryan Dude, in what way does it matter? There were photos of piled up, gaunt bodies. Did they catch bullets or some gas? Who gives a shit? A lot of people died. A lot of Jews died. A lot of Russians died (high estimates go up to 26 million). A lot of everyone died. In a way I can see through your bullshit and understand your point. Thats if your point is the Nazi's were only slightly worse than any other warning faction or government at that time. Look, did a black guy in America get put in a gas chamber, no. Was he treated sub-human, yes. In that way, the American government was also pretty fucked up. Look at whats happening in Israel right now. I agree Nazi's are the easy target, while Hamas and the Panthers and Israel all get a pass in the modern day, but dude, don't go tick for tat. It's pointless. Argue that other governments were just like the Nazi's. Don't be the "Nazi's didn't do x and y, even though they did z," guy.

@USSLiberty Exactly. And all that blame on Germany is what led to Nazi political take over, and subsequently, World War II. We learn so much from history, don't we?

@courtdub Stop acting like you're doing anything. Get off the pedestal for a moment a understand what you're saying: you don't like something, so it should be banished. No offense champ, but even though your judgement on Nazism may be good, what about other issues? Just 50 years ago, when we fought those evil Nazi's, a black guy couldn't drink out of a fucking water fountain. And that was the social norm. We don't like blacks, so they should be banished. People already feel mosques should be banned from their communities, because they don't like Muslims, and don't want to see them. Your judgement isn't always good. Its not just about the Nazi's. Once you ban one thing, its just a matter of time.

@Mr Deux Well, its not an absurd point. The Israeli / Palestinian conflict had been pretty insane. Not saying Israel is wrong or right, but the point is that many Palestinian people view the Israeli military, and thus Israeli, the same way many people viewed the Nazi's. The point is that to be offended is such a broad, incorrect science that greatly varies from person to person and culture to culture, that banning this will lead to people wanting to ban Jewish flag apps. Everytime something is banned, a company has set precedent. See: Village of Skokie v. National Socialist Party. Companies, like governments, in my humble opinion, should try to be fair and balanced, especially when that logic is at the core of the company in question. Call me crazy, but I don't want the company running the world's number one website (a search engine) making judgement calls on censorship, no matter how obvious the judgement may seem.

I wonder if I could have any pro-Jewish apps removed, after all, many of the military strikes in Palestinian civilian areas are evil and reprehensible.

@Marc B Just, thank you. I'm sure no one here has a problem with all those Che related themes. Goddamn uneducated hypocrites.

@daos It is, stupid. How is defending our constitutional rights leveling with Nazi's? Did you read the Skokie case article? Guess what, people like Nazi themes. Does that make them un-American? Well then what about Black Panthers, or Hamas, or the Sons of Islam. Are they un-American too? How about we be honest. You don't like it. And you want it banished, because you don't like it. Stop pretending you have a real reason to defend yourself. You don't like it, so you want it removed.
