Report: Mirror's Edge 2 rejected by EA (oh, and Happy Valentine's Day!)

Feb 14th 2011 6:24PM (Joystiq)
Mirrors Edge is still one of my favourate and most memorable games this console generation, yes it had its problems that a extra month or two of polish would have solved, but (for me at least) it didn't make the game any less enjoyable. I loved they were trying to do something new in trying to may a 'first person platformer' of sorts, and the loved the art direction and music too.
I still play though it every couple of months, so is sad to hear that EA are binning it (tho hopefully another publisher will pick it up....).
I love the Battlefield series and have played the crap out of BC2, but would be more excited to hear about Mirrors Edge 2 than BF3.

@Faenix I've never really noticed anyone actually playing online.

I haven't played this online in about a month, but when I was playing it there was no-one about, and I would join a 'quick game', but it would be only me. I've only had a couple of rounds were there were actually other players playing. Are there more people playing now?

Kevin Butler commercial cloned in New Zealand

Jul 20th 2010 3:46PM (Joystiq)
Well being a NZ'er I saw this add on TV the other night, there is also a longer version of it, but remember thinking that it was pretty similar to the Kevin Butler add's. Though since Kevin Butler is part of Playstation's U.S marketing we don't get 'his' add's aired over here, so most people here wouldn't know its a copy (unless your a gamer of course:) ).

Develop: How is digital distribution changing the games you play?

Jul 17th 2010 7:41PM (Joystiq)
@(Unverified) Similar situation here. While the Internet speeds are decent, it is pretty expensive com paired to many larger countries (ie US) so even now I don't bother with downloading demo's (unless I really want to play it) because most of them are getting bigger generally around 1gig +. I don't want to have to pay for the game, and then have to pay for the bandwidth. Same goes with online movies.
It's nice to have the 'boxes' with cover art, manual and disk.
I have all the Metal Gear games (PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP), and its nice to have them all stacked up next to one another. DD has it's place, but personally I would still buy a boxed product rather than a DD product.

Killzone 3 teaser trailer is a great big pile of carnage

Jun 3rd 2010 8:05PM (Joystiq)
So if I get to play as a Helghast, do I get to kill Rico?

Please for the love of god I hope so! I don't know why they brought him back yet decided to kill of Templar (and that other guy on your squad who's name i cant remember with the bandanna who was kind of bearable).
Rico belongs in games with other generic steroid soldier douche bags, games like say HAZE....

None the less KZ3 is looking good.

Modern Warfare 2 Resurgence Map Pack detailed [Update: Now with screens!]

May 14th 2010 7:07PM (Joystiq)
Yea I agree, surprisingly I've had alot more fun playing BC2 than I ever did playing MW2; tanks, choppers, destructible environments, and less camping and the fact people usually work as a team, made it much more enjoyable .
MW2 just took it self to seriously and left out the fun, BC2 is not meant to be all that serious and as a result has both fun SP and MP. I do love all the BC2 maps, though I too am looking forward to some new maps...

"Fuel -- a sniper haven based in and around an oil refinery" - great the amount of campers is what put me off playing MW2 in the first place, so this sounds like something I'd pay for....

Bad Company 2 'F.R.A.G.S.' video continues Modern Warfare mockery

Mar 18th 2010 12:18AM (Joystiq)
It's worth a play. I wasn't a fan of the BC1's single player or multiplayer, so was a bit weary of BC2, but now that I've got it am really enjoying BC2! Story mode is more fun & characters are more likable than the first, online is alot of fun, maps are a good size & well designed, lag is pretty much non-existent. The lack of campers is a big plus for me (since the abundance of camping douche bags in COD is what made me stop playing that), and if any one decides to camp you can blow the building out with a few greneades or go after them with a tank/uav/chopper :)

It's worth a rental even if you hated the 1st one. It doesn't take it's self to seriously (as this ^^^ video shows!) either. Personally I think BC2 is just plain FUN! :)
