DS Fanboy vs. GBA Movie Player

Jul 7th 2006 11:52AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I'd rather use Moonshell (homebrew) for video and mp3's. The video quality is better with Moonshell. I hate to say it, but if you want video playback, you should probably just get a PSP (bigger screen size at the price of poor LCD quality though...*glares at my PSP*).

I liked the Supercards much better than the GBA Movie players. I've got a GBAMP2, but it's essentially worthless except for homebrew.

Isn't the M3 a better choice for media playback? The only problem with these other flashcarts is they cost 2-3 times more.

Hunters Hax

That's unfortunate. I've not played the DS online in a while, but now I don't think I'll even bother.

This is what sucks about free online services. The modders/hackers just take over. I've not played any PSP game online, but I'm sure there would be the same share of problems. Even XBL has had problems, but at least they can mostly regulate it if they want.

Maybe when I get my DS lite I won't care and I'll play anyway.

The PSP still looks cooler, but the DS is still more fun to play. =)

Ecko: DS > Xbox 360

Jun 13th 2006 11:58AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
The DS is an excellent device, but I can't agree with the "enjoying it more than my 360" comment. It is fun, but the 3" screens just don't cut it for long.

The time I spend is probably about 10 to 1 for 360 vs DS/PSP.

Said that wrong, of course the DS will always have games. I watch video on it once it a while so I forget. LOL

DS releases for the week of May 29th

It never ceases to amaze me that the DS release dates are always games, and the PSP releases are almost always movies.

I just bought a PSP not too long ago, but I still find myself playing the DS more. A lot more.

Metroid Prime Hunters commercial all dark and edgy

Wow, that's a slightly different commercial for Nintendo. It's better than any of Sony's commercials in my opinion.

I want the game!

DS Linux web browser now available

LOL...ASCI Porn. That is hilarious.

#3, you will need a game cart and more memory for web browsing. The Opera cart comes with a GBA memory cart. Even the text-based browser can have memory problems, so if a graphical web browser is run...

What I'm saying is that having a DS downloadable browser is pretty much impossible. If you aren't using a homebrew version (doesn't exist yet), then you'll need the Opera version.

New Metroid Prime footage

Finally, an online multiplayer FPS for a portable. If it is anything like the multiplayer in Metroid Prime 2, then it is sure to be a hit.

BTW, I wouldn't assume the graphics look amazing. This video is obviously sped up and the resolution isn't that good. But it definitely shows that the demo isn't be a good representation.

I can't believe this is taking so long, but the addition of online multiplayer should make it worth it.

Well...there goes a perfectly good wireless controller for your PC...

Played some Emu's on the PC yesterday using the DS....it worked very well!
